It is now 10 confirmed dead, and 15 injured....The suspect was known to police I read. ( likely mental health issues, he was screaming for the officer to shoot him ) I was commenting to DH that if this had happened in the US the man would have been shot the instant he put his arm up with whatever he was holding because everything looks like a gun to them.
Such a senseless loss of life. These pedestrians were out enjoying the beautiful sunshine and a deranged man driving into them was the furthest thought from their minds I am sure.

Good morning Chat-Crew.
Hello @cath007
Yonge Street still closed in that area this morning, and multiple accidents/slow downs on the 401 on the way in, had to take a few detours...good news though, still made it in before anyone else in the department...so technically I was on time for work!
Anyways, off to the papers.
Big Boss just, yes literally just, asked from some work to be done before 9am.
Have a wonderful day everyone.
Enjoy the warm weather, stay safe, let your loved one's know you love them.
Back later.DANGER

It's definitely something that gets you close to the heart. I know what you mean @gryphon, I used to live right at the corner of Yonge and Sheppard. When the weather was like it was yesterday, my Wife and I would go for walks almost every night along Yonge Street, right where that all happened.
DANGER

Not me, dude. I slept in this morning, however, I was so tired that I didn't realize that I had slept in. At 4:30am I thought it was 3:30am. No wonder I felt so rested. I was only 15 minutes late, but still... for someone who prides herself on her punctuality, that is a blow

Good morning everyone!
A little fitting, it's grey in the Toronto area today.

finally back from a morning appt. All is well with my mood/self esteem today ( I was thrilled to see I had lost 10 lbs! )
However....the work/effort/willpower that went into these last 22 days as I re-re-re-started my healthier food plan for the umpteenth time it seems was rewarded, so I think I'll hang in there.
The news is saturated with the sadness of that horrific episode on Yonge. I may skip a few broadcasts just to keep my mood elevated, some of us are so empathetic ( cannot be helped ) to the point that we can make ourselves ill.
Everyone hug a family member/spouse/friend/co-worker extra tight today!!
LOVE LOVE LOVE LOVE....our City needs love.

Congratulations, @walkonby!!! Some of us know how difficult losing weight can be....good for YOU!
As for some news coverages, my DD and I are the same as you....we're empaths also, feel things deeply and carry them with us for far longer than is usual for most people. Things stay with me for so long, a photo of someone suffering, particulary an animal for some reason, has me re-seeing it for weeks, feeling their sadness. Many of us put on weight, almost like taking on the weight of the world (as the saying goes)...it's no fun, is it?
Could be why my background noise tv channel is either music or BNN Canada...sad things pop up on other channels when I least expect them.
