Beautiful, Patty!! The clematis is amazing as usual. How many dragon wing begonias do you have in each pot? I bought another one this year (a pink one this time) and it's doing much better than the one last year but it just doesn't seem to be filling out very quickly. I have it sitting in a mostly shady spot, it only gets sun in the morning.

still waiting for my stawberries and raspberries to ripen, fruit is there. My new clematis multi blue has two blooms on it! My peonies and iris are done. Lilies getting ready to bloom. My red flowered pole beans are starting to bloom too! Peas are also on the go. My tomatos are huge! and I have tons of them on each plant!
The most serious gardening I do would seem very strange to an onlooker, for it involves hours of walking round in circles, apparently doing nothing." --Helen Dillon

Did a big mid-season clean up today. I pulled out all the plants in my boxes along the back fence, they were not doing well. I transplanted a bunch of lettuce and kale into them. The lettuce is growing like crazy. No tomatoes yet though. I guess there is still hope for an extended warm season which could yield some stuff yet.

Is there anyone who uses the metal wire plant supports? I was thinking of getting some for my peonies, but they all seem to rust so quickly that it seems like they wouldn't last more than a year or two.

GoJays,
What a colour explosion in your yard! Lovely pics. That helichrysum is a neat colour.
I just got back from visiting the family in Calgary. I was worried that the heat wave would do in my plants but they fared surprisingly well. Lots of weeding to do but it will have to wait until the rain stops.
Here are a few pics from before we left: Some lettuce growing in a pot on the deck, red weigela and peonies in full bloom.

I've wanted a red weigela for ages now but I have nowhere to put it. I've had a pink one for years now but it hasn't put on any weight. It's still the same size as when I bought it - little. Every spring I think "this is it, it's dead" but every year it surprises me and leafs out and blooms. I've even moved it's location and nothing. Silly thing.
