I'm currently in Saskatoon at my OBGYN office. The roads were fine, just a long drive. Comparing her scale to my gp's (that I will see on Monday) I have lost 8lbs in exactly 1 month, while pregnant. I'll be 10wks on Monday. I'm still waiting to see the doctor. I already texted dh. *shrug* My mom is in the waiting room. Some friends think I am having twins, which might explain how sick I have been feeling.

Well more than a little jealous of your confession, I live in my laundry room. Was just thinking today how I have failed my 17 year old son, and have neglected to teach him the finer points of laundry. This is my mission for February, he changes way too much with the arrival of his first serious girl friend!!!

Angela-hope you can gain some weight soon. I spent a few hrs today helping with the 4 twins who were all sick and now the Dad is getting it too-hope the Mum stays healthy or may have to go give another hand.
Granger-sorry to hear about the loss of your student. Sadly ,speaking from personal experience, our eldest daughter died several years ago suddenly in an accident about a week before Grade 9 grad and exams. It was very difficult for the other students and they were even exempt from writing provincial exams that year, if they so chose. I think the students/teachers need support and need to do what they have/need to do to move on and process this untimely and unexpected death. However, I think in time it is important that someone check with the parents re benches, trees, memorials etc.
Everyone is different and the things that were done for us by the school were 98% wonderful and very much appreciated and maybe 2% not so wonderful. I think the best advice I can give is that the school should not make assumptions about how the parents would or would not want their daughter memorialized-in fact it is such a personal thing that each parent may feel differently. I can remember any insensitive comments that were made to me at that time, even though they weren't meant that way. Tread carefully and follow the lead of the family as to what they want and when.
Anyway I don't want this to be a downer post as we did our best to move forward and find joy and purpose in our life despite the tragedy. And I am happy to say we can breathe a little easier now that DD2 has already survived longer and made it to high school. It is so shocking and unexpected when any child dies. We have truly been strengthened as a couple and as a family through this tragic experience and we sure try not to sweat the small things. We try hard to live life to the fullest each day and waste as little time as possible on petty arguements etc-although of course we don't do a perfect job at this!!
