^ The big fires are 3 1/2 hours north of us - they have evacuated a lot of people out of there, hundreds to Saskatoon.

Candini, hope your firelegs calm down and you are soothed!

Sent DH grocery shopping with a specific list.

Asked for 3-4 Ham Lunchables. Specifically told him it's the only kind the kids like. He comes home with 12 Summer Sausage ones. EWWWWW! So now we have a bunch of lunchables the kids are whining for but won't eat.

He also picked up a huge watermelon. It says seedless right on the sticker, he paid extra for the seedless kind, except it's NOT seedless. Cut it open today and there's seeds throughout. Not to mention it looks like swiss cheese, it clearly didn't grow well. There's no way I'm lugging this huge watermelon back, it wouldn't even be worth the gas.

^ That's odd, cath, here the grocery stores and drugstores are open, along with dept. and bigbox stores.

In Ontario you have to be in what's considered a tourist designation to be open on stat holidays and I think Quebec follows the same rules.
In my area we have a crappy little outlet mall that's in a town considered a tourist designation, but the mall and all the big box stores that are a 5 minute drive down the road have to stay closed. Even the Walmart right beside the mall can't open because they're technically in different cities.

As they should be. Who wants to work on a stat holiday? I'd rather spend time with family.

^ I wouldn't mind at all if there were no shopping on stats, like it used to be.

Gee, when I was growing up, all stores were closed Sundays and Wednesdays, as well as stats~

Where I live is deemed cottage country so all our groceries stores will be open limited hours. Pretty much every mall is open which surprised me.

Ours are all open, I would prefer them to be closed, retail people need family time. The only days our mall is closed is Christmas day. Sad..
