Hello everyone, I'm a newbie here. Just discovered this thread recently.
Very friendly and supportive forum.
To my bud, hicks, you inspire me every day.
Thanks for being my shoulder to lean on.
I read somewhere about your last read, and it inspired me
to go to the library today and get 'The Midwife of Venice'.
Thanks for reminding me about the pleasure (and great escape)
of reading, and for the title. Can't wait to start it. It will also be
my first read in the historical fiction genre.

Well.
We did it!
We bought it!!! Walks, Hicks......you're both so right...more pros than cons and it's absolutely lovely, immaculately maintained (it's a 2011), full kitchen, dining area, sofa, full bath, queen bed, swivel tv from the living-room to the bedroom and a back bedroom with 3 twin beds, but I think we're going to take 2 out and put in a double for our grandson when we take him up with us. And omg, lol....you should have seen the "retirement street" we're on! When we went by there were about 20 of them, all in a row in lawn chairs, drinks in hand, playing bocce, yelling, "You'll love it here!!" etc...lol...too fun!
The kids absolutely love the idea that we're moving in and just around the corner from their trailer. Our grandson is so excited, too!!!
We just drove back (it's a 2 hr drive) and are exhausted.
Hey...if you don't reach for new adventures, you get old. And we're not about to do that!Hubby can kayak whenever he wants to....and a little town with all the amenities just 10 minutes down the road.
Anyway...just wanted to share our new little joy!!
Sweet dreams, everyone, and welcome, Margy!!

Oh, Lynn I'm happy for you! When I said a no to it before, I obviously had no idea what I was talking about, I thought it was just an upgrade to another trailer similar to what you had.
Had a great supper and evening with our son here - but I'm pooped.
Just found out that my last great-auntie died at 96, on my mom's side. Didn't know her at all.

I guess I was so excited that I didn't explain it correctly. It's definitely an upgrade, larger, more ammenities, but for us, at our age, attaching and un-hitching the trailer, backing it into rented spots, extending the awning, putting up the dining tent, takes time, can be aggravating and is definitely time-consuming, and not being able to set up until 1 in the afternoon and having to leave by 11am...well, it all added up to...too much! Now we have a more space, a sofa that is far better for my leg and my degenerated back, no moving, condiments can stay in the fridge and freezer stays on....and an oven! Lol!
The deck needs painting, the lawn, reseeding, little fun things...just a new adventure!
So happy that you had a lovely family dinner! What did you prepare? I ask because I know you're a pretty darn good cook!
Sorry to hear about your great-aunt, Hon.....
Sweet dreams, my Friend!

Well it sounds very cool. I have never gone camping, or been in a trailer, etc. Just not that type of family. We would go to the lake for a day trip, do swimming, weenie roast and stuff and that was fun. In summers any road trips we did were to see family elsewhere in sk or to my sister in Edmonton. And once I was growed all up and married with a kid, just staycations as we had zip for money, but summers were always fun!
Going to head to bed now to read and rest this sore bod.. Oh, I made fried wontons for supper, thus my arm and shoulder are so sore because I do not do well with repetitive movements, and I made dozens. Served with rice, which had sauteed veggies mixed in. It was all yummers!
Hoping for sleep! Goodnight!

@Lynn49 !!! It sounds even better than I had thought, yes an upgrade for sure. What you mentioned about the time spent setting up with the other trailer, this eliminates all that aggravation, more time to sit with a drink in your hand and play bocce ball! ha ha So happy for you guys. Your grandson will never think of his grandparents as old, you'll be on the go every summer!
