Anyone notice an increase of price of milk at SDM? They have always sold it for less than any other store. What gives?

From what I was told by the Dairy Manager in No Frills is that February is the annual Dairy increase, they are only allowed to increase once a year and once Milk goes up you will see other Dairy products go up. Our conversation was in January and he said that we would for sure see an increase this year and there was nothing stores could do but wait and see what the new price would be.

It's been up for a while. We used to get the 4L jug for around 4.50 - today it was 5.49.

Yup its gone up everywhere in the last 3-4 days by 30 cents. The Supply Management or dairy farmers of ON probably has a lot to do with it.
most grocery stores make next to nothing on basic milk. Maybe they make something on the premium milk.
Its usually a loss leader for them or they just about break even on it. Its just to get people in and create traffic for the store, hoping that they buy something else, when they come in to buy milk.

Stop whining and come buy Milk in NB. 4l for 7.19
But while I'm whining butter is so expensive, even the store brand is 5.19 a pound. I had to make puff pastry out of lard today. We'll see how that turns out.It is not how much we have, but how much we enjoy, that makes happiness.
