ha ha ^^^ I played it for DS....he gave me one of those concerned looks because I was singing along with it!
I like silly lyrics like that, plus that singer is easy on the eyes. ha ha

Yankees lost their Thursday game against the Orioles everyone!
Gary Sanchez ( thank You ) for being the inept Yanks catcher we all know you to be!
He let the tying run cross the plate in the bottom of the 9th, because he was down on one knee and NOT in a traditional catcher's crouch.
o.k. I'll show some sympathy about the game in general, it was played in pretty heavy rain. Imagine you're safe sliding into 2nd on your belly in an attempted steal, but the review overturns and you're out. Now you're uni is all mucked up for nothing....sad.

    Happy morning, everyone!

@walkonby , if you liked the bubbly, sing-along lyrics of that one, look up "MY CHURCH " by Maren Morris...DD and I just dance and belt it out at camp, lol! Ok, wine may have been involved... You're right of course, the lead singer of Old Dominion is easy on the eyes!

What a gorgeous day it's going to be! 24, sunny, but I'm still going to make turkey chili because we love it, it's great for my diet and I have cocoa powder!

Then more practice on my Christmas cards...I love my Cricut!

    Enjoy the day, everyone!

Hey! I know this was posted a bit ago. In many of your posts it sounds to me like you have decent relationships with your family, especially some of your grandkids. I want to encourage you (and anyone else reading this) to talk about these concerns with your families. I think people need to make it clear to their families/caregivers/friends, whatever your set up is, that these are real issues. Did you know that this is one of the major contributors to depression?

You'd be amazed at how many people don't have a POA for personal care; it's important stuff. If you want to be cared for at home, and no nursing homes, tell your family. If you think hospice for end of life care is what you want--make it clear. While I know it seems uncomfortable, it pays dividends to be honest. It's peace of mind for you, and having a plan always makes things easier. Have some faith in your families. Sometimes all your kids need to fly is a bit of letting them know what your expectations are.

You sound like you are made from strong stuff--I'm sure it's genetic

Seems like ive spent my life taking care of people. First hubby and the kids, then my mom who lived with us after her stroke; and after that hubby who spent 11 months in the hospital. And i keep on wondering who will take care of me if i really get sick with something.

Yes, absolutely, @alex78, a Durable POA, although there are 4 other kinds, is absolutely essential for anyone, not just for the elderly; anyone at any time can be severely injured and not be able to communicate their wishes to family.

Also, a POA for Health Care (which is not covered under that POA), a Living Will, a power to, or not to, intubate and rescuscitate, a Will, and Advanced Directives.

It can get quite complicated, so a good lawyer or an accredited, licenced and registered wealth manager; a financial planner; or a financial advisor is a must, imho.

Get good legal and professional financial advice before signing a PoA, too. I was watching one of those investigative/news shows (can't remember which one, 60 Mins, MarketPlace, 5th Estate) and one segment was on how a person got appointed as PoA and ruined the person for whom the PoA was supposed to protect. It may have been because it was court-appointed. I vaguely remember the program reporting how the person gathered/acted as PoA for many different people as a business enterprise. I do not remember the specific details, except that it was impossible to get rid of the PoA once it had been granted (except through death.)

Anyway, just urging a touch of caution and know all the bad things that may come about.

    Hello everyone!

Gee, I would tell myself each day that I would post on here 'later' - then I just wouldn't. There has been nothing wrong, though.

Interesting that I had to sign into SC just now. I never log out, so maybe it does that after a certain number of days without posts?

Things here are the same. Blech!

Son came home from his trip to BC full of stories about his adventures. He liked the mountains, especially places in valleys - but he said once he left the mountains, he was very, very happy to be back in the Prairies. It was interesting to hear his observations on different feelings he had gone through.

He had brought a big bag of goodies to share with us. Most things were from the original Italian Centre shop in Edmonton, which is an absolutely amazing place - yummy imported foods, or locally made. He also stopped at a small town just outside of Edmonton, which makes the finest Ukrainian garlic sausage - since I was a kid. They also have one of those huge town landmarks.

Hope you are all doing well!

No worries there, @HermanH...we're in good hands and I don't mean allstate!

I've seen two people who went to the wrong "advisors" for help...people MUST check for provincial and federal credentials to make sure they're certified and licenced in Canada.

ANYONE can call themselves a financial advisor in Canada, unfortunately, even in BANKS.
