Found a red SDM bag blowing around and picked it up to fill with litter, before tossing it in the nearest bin. Good exercise for doing many squats.

@Ciel21 thanks for the shoutout on the closing beerstore. It has been all the buzz in my local groups as this is our closest location. I typically go about every 3 months with the empty containers from my walk and we use about a bottle of wine a week. But the next closest location is by the superstore so not a stretch. In NS so many things have a recycling fee but the return process is tedious so we bag them up and wait for someone to ask for them to support a group or pay a bill. Last summer a local school was buying playground equipment so we made sure to give them all our recycling. I am currently hoping someone is in need as I have 3 huge bags in my garage.

Victoria Day weekend means library and municipal service closures, also possibly Sunday library service impacts in some library systems, next weekend. Good time to check your first aid supplies in home/cottage/bags/glove compartment or car trunk for items that need replacing. Also any emergency food rations and water/blankets/traffic safety supplies in case you get stuck on highway for hours during weekend maintenance closures. 5h reports to drive between Toronto and Fort Erie last weekend!

Correction on the July 2025 date on one squeeze Heinz condiment container. The date is printed as 26 JL 25. As other containers have 2026 expiries, the absence of 20 before 26 gave me two possible years as expiry dates. Wish companies would print the extra two year digits to prevent confusion, but manufacturers are keen to save even on printing full dates on packaging.

I have become used to the $2.99 chicken weiners. They are more affordable than the pork variety . Beef weiners are a rare treat. I find the Costco weiners too seasoned and big for at home eating.

Read that US and China have a 90 day pause on tariffs. Store chains are likely to find out how much merchandise they can bring in by ships in this window of time to keep shelves stocked.

Two weeks ago, a 50ml travel tube of sunscreen was on sale for $8.99 at Shoppers. Had I wanted to spend $5 more, a larger squeeze bottle could be acquired. Makes it hard to try out a different sunscreen if $9 before taxes is the entry purchase price.

Check out Dollarama for sunscreen! One of mine had tons of name brand variety for $4.50/$5 I think the price was.

Wanted to stock us up on laundry detergent and the deal I went with was the Purex 4.43L for $9.99 and receive 1,000 PC pts per purchase (Pm'd RCSS at No Frills to get the point promo)
Wanted to redeem PC pts and get to as close the redemption amount as possible:
2 x Purex $22.58 (with tax)
2 x Castello Cheese $6 ($5 each less $2 coupon)
2 x Unico Crushed tomatoes $2

So $30.58 less $30 in PC pts...Paid .60 Cents

I am thinking of going back and getting 4 x Purex and 2 x cheese and redeem $50 in PC pts and then not have to worry about laundry soap for a year!

Not a bad day so far. Popped out to get the detergent.
Kitchen is clean. Fridge is clean (had to toss leftovers nobody ate)
Took BLSL chicken breasts out of freezer (last night) for dinner. Will serve with fresh brocolli (that has been kicking around but is still ok- I checked it this morning!) Thinking I will make waffle fries with it and a few pieces of garlic bread for the guys if they want it.

Sorted the laundry and put a load in the washer just now. Including what I was wearing (since Sunday! I showered each day and just put it back on )
Now I can have a shower and put something fresh on.

I am going to pop out after work and fill up the gas tank before the long weekend increase. Then RCSS to get 4 packages of the pepperettes (DS told me he really liked the ones I bought)

Frugalbigmama ,yes popping out to get more laundry soap would be good .I got the 4.43 size for $7.10 and got 4 about 2 months ago .
Same as coffee i stocked up at 10.99 for nabob at giant tiger got 3 now it has gone up everywhere .

Hubby cut front and back lawn ,something i cant do anymore with my knees .But i still raked a bit and trimmed my lavender bush so it isnt too woody looking ,at least we split it last year and it is coming up the back on the top of our hill.


I am loving shopping at food basics not that far from my house 15 minute drive,and their prices have been great so far.

Looking forward to seeing my daughter and Sebastian this weekend we are staying 2 nights this time .My son is going to P.E.I. first time for 4 days this weekend to visit his best friend who moved there a solo trip for him .

Morning so happy, we have a new insurance provider from hubbys work and they covered this cream i needed .Last year i had to pay 65.00 under our old plan .
So that in itself is a bonus saving.

Off to babysit the girls tonight til later when son gets home at 6.30 p.m so supper at my sons .I think i will cook hot dogs for the girls with a salad.

Hubby and i viewed a great series on Apple t.v "the crowded room " loved it great viewing.

Called my dear brother in London,ont yesterday .It is always a pleasure talking to me he said .My sister-in-law said the doctors said it will take him about 2 years to get back to normal after this fall he had last year and was hospitalized for 3 months then rehab for a month .He now has a homecare worker help with his shower each week and he goes to rehab once a week.

We are hoping to visit him this summer with my younger brother and his girlfriend .

Thanks for posting this. I had not shopped for laundry detergent for at least a couple of years, but we were down to our last 4L bottle, so it was time to start.

It's a bit annoying to see that this is yet another thing where the deals available nowadays are a far cry from a few years ago; e.g. our last bottle is a 4L Purex that was $3.50-ish on a stock-up deal. I'll grant this was a few years ago, but still... seeing that $10 with 1K points is a deal... sheesh.

Agreed! My last deal was the sunlight detergent for around the same size for free! RCSS had an instant coupon and price matching it made it free!

I went to the gas station and found a 4-litre jug of milk dated yesterday. So, the attendant gave it to me for free.

As I was walking to RCSS, I was wondering how I was going to lug the 10-pound jug along with the 20-pound ribeye steak I was planning to purchase and carry home over 12km. Of course, it is never wise to question The Food Gods, because one must have heard me. (Probably Loki.) For he loosened the knot on the jug and it fell to the ground with a big splash. ["Don't know how you are going to walk home under all that weight? Well, I fixed it for you!"] Sigh, no point in crying over spilt milk, eh?
