DH and I are constructing a pan of messy cabbage rolls for our dinner later tonight.
The meat is thawed, onions diced, rice cooked, we're making enough to have leftovers
for their work meals. DH said it's been a while since we've made this, who remembers? ha ha

That sounds good WOB-reminds me I haven't made lazy cabbage roll casserole for ages-and it is certainly is cool enough to have the oven on.

Don't laugh BUT we bought 3 bags of undressed Dole coleslaw to use in the mixture instead of a whole cabbage that would have involved chopping.
2 weeks ago DH's sister had us all laughing at her reaction to using coleslaw when making it. She exclaimed " you can do that? " Well, that comment
should follow her around for a few more get togethers as we love to rib each other.
We'll use it for anything anyone brings up and say it the same way she did. Love and a slam, ...... only families can do that.

I am THE laziest cook today. Shoved a Butterball frozen " football " turkey breast in the oven. It cooks from frozen, takes 4 hours.
It has another 1 1/2 hours to go.
Should I make sides? That would involve peeling, chopping and getting water boiling. Sigh....
No appetite really because of the heat. We'll be eating late any way you look at it.

Visiting my friend at her condo out in the mountains. Had a simple dinner of smokies on a bun with a bagged salad. Lemon cheesecake will be dessert. Saw a couple of herds of mountain goats roadside on the way out here-a rare treat with babies too.

More smokies on a bun and salad-even though it has been pouring here this morning summer meals prevail. Clearly I am the eternal optimist!

Tonight we had dry ribs from No Frills, french fries, fresh sliced apple, cherries, garden peas, and garden yellow string beans.
Dessert was DQ cake. It was leftovers from our twins’ birthday cake, which they won from our local radio station.Help me out with Swagbucks and we can both earn gift cards and PayPal money

For Saturday I made a nacho style layer dip. A larger one this time, mixed 2 pkgs. cream cheese, 1/2 tub of sour cream, 1/2 tub Greek plain yogurt.
1 pkg. dry taco seasoning, Worcestershire sauce and lemon juice. Spread that out in my oblong dish, topped with 2 small bottles liquid taco sauce,
then layered with 1 1/2 bags of Texmex cheese. I always keep the mini diced veg separate. We just sprinkle some on our loaded taco chips.
This one went down easy! DS usually has a midnight run of whatever is in the fridge. , he'll likely grab another serving.
