I cooked up fresh smelts today! Dipped them little fishies in a bit of egg wash, then dredged in flour, then plopped into hot oil. Sea salt on top! Ate a whole bowl full.

Someone had salmon yesterday at a BBQ, man does it ever waft up ( the aroma) smells so good.
I think I might use my brand new Cuisinart Griddle this weekend to try those shrimp Quesidillas, I only wish I could find the very large shrimp on for a better price.

Lol....2 PMs for those bean buritos, so I hope it's okay if I post it here in case anyone else is interested...
Bean Burritos
6 corn tortillas (could only find flour ones here)
salsa
canned black beans, drained and rinsed
cheddar cheese
green or red pepper strips if desired (we use red)
shredded lettuce
Warm the beans in the microwave.
Layer onto each tortilla:
several tbsp of the black beans (the 6 tortillas should use up all the beans, so divide evenly) and sprinkle with a little salt/pepper
pepper strips if using
a layer of salsa
shredded cheese
shredded lettuce
Roll up and enjoy! It's amazing how we don't miss the meat and enjoy the flavour of the beans...I nuke mine for about 15seconds or so to melt the cheese slightly and warm the tortilla.
It makes a quick, easy, no-cook dinner for us.
So far I've lost 30lbs dieting...since October...a slow, easy loss but I think a more permanent one this way.
I hope you like them, too!
I've never actually made them...my hubby found the recipe on the web-site Carb Lovers Diet...there are plenty more there and so far they've all been very good!

I just started a pot of pot barlie vegetable soup. I wanted to use up some things in the fridge and eat healthier food options to lose some of my university weight. I started with pot barlie, added corn off two cobs, added one chopped onion, two over ripe tomatoes, coleslaw mix, tomatoe paste, a touch of ketchup and spices.
