Been baking up a storm, made shortbread cookies with green cherries on top, gingersnap cookies, haystacks and cookie monsters favorite cookie dough (to find the energy to make the cookies now!)

WWII Oatmeal Molasses Cookies
Ingredients
2 cups all-purpose flour
2 cups oatmeal
1 teaspoon baking soda
1 teaspoon baking powder
1 teaspoon salt
1 cup sugar
3/4 cup shortening
2 eggs, beate
5 tablespoons light molasses
2 teaspoons vanilla extract
1/2 cup chopped walnuts (optional)
1/2 cup raisins (optional)
I make it with chocolate chips instead. The molasses makes the cookies stay moist even when left uncovered.
Directions
Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C).
In a large bowl, stir together the flour, oatmeal, baking soda, baking powder, and salt.
In another large bowl, beat the sugar with the shortening until smooth and creamy; mix in beaten eggs, molasses, and vanilla. Gradually mix in the dry ingredients. Stir in walnuts and raisins. Drop by teaspoonfuls onto ungreased baking sheets.
Bake for 10 to 12 minutes, or until slightly browned. Allow cookies to cool on baking sheet for 5 minutes before removing to a wire rack to cool completely.Last edited by Angela273; Sun, Dec 16th, 2012 at 09:36 PM.

I made fudge with a mint topping this afternoon for my daughter to take to school for class treats. I can only say three words about it: Oh. My. God.
I wish Friday would hurry up and come because i cannot guarantee how long the fudge will stay in the fridge. It's looking at me with it's mournful eyes and crying, "eat me! eat me!"
I must resist!!!!"Be yourself. Everyone else is already taken." Oscar Widle

Well, last night was an adventure in gingerbread cookie baking. It was adventure because I forgot (AGAIN!) to halve the recipe so I have probably 200 gingerbread cookies here. LOL.
This afternoon (thanks to the elementary teacher walkout in our board today) I made 4 dozen reindeer cake pops for my other daughter to take as class treats tomorrow."Be yourself. Everyone else is already taken." Oscar Widle
