Not to worry CdnRebel. We are friendly here. I think I speak for others when I say that we are respectful (although tease people we like) and seek to understand and learn from each other's points of view.
Perhaps some would like to hear my favourite poem. I have carried it in my purse for 35 years.
Oh, the comfort, the inexpressible comfort of feeling safe with a person; having neither to weigh thoughts nor measure words, but to pour them all out, just as they are, chaff and grain together, knowing that a faithful hand will take and sift them, keep what is worth keeping and then, with the breath of kindness, blow the rest away. - George Eliot
I thought I found that person once, but alas, I'm still looking.

Hi CarroGirl,
I must see the Stones before Mick gets too old to tour. Watched a Biography on him last week. Apparently, he was the normal one of the bunch. I was thinking of requesting Some Girls earlier, but didn't (internet went down for a bit). When did you see them?
Saw Supertramp at the CNE. They blew me away. Finally bought the last of their big 4 last week - Crisis What Crisis.
I remember the Police at the CNE, too. What I remember most was after the concert when my crazy boyfriend got hundreds of people singing one of their songs (can't remember which one) while we were all walking to the streetcars passed the Princes' Gates on a beautiful Toronto night.

Thanks Michele. I also can't afford internet at home. Libraries are closed on Sundays. I give up laundry to use an internet cafe and if I'm lucky someone lends me a metropass to use an office computer on the weekend.

good evening everybod!
what a glorious day! nice digs, michele from mississauga. it sure looks like a great spot to watch the world go by (men at work will certainly do) and for chillin' and millin'. i concur with everything you wrote today as i do most of the time.
as far as going for the race at 10:15 this a.m., well what can i say? i have the attention span of a tse-tse fly. i spent pretty much the entire day cleaning my car listening to '69, woodstock et al. when the 4:15p rolled around ? i was watching the clock 3:45p still had 1/2 hr to run in house: janis was rippin' 'try' and what a delight to hear a young santana again. funny, when i got into the house friday, i put on santana's "shaman" and let it rip(for me that means very loud and a lot of excellent dance moves...in my opinion...nobody's ever seen it) i've never seen the band live but one can dream. i digress, yah i heard the winning word
my first concert was "steppenwolf" at massey hall; it was everthing i had ever imagined it to be. the music/band were the best i'd heard(at that time), oh was i highly delighted: back then you could smoke in almost any venue including hospital rooms. so, yah it was Smoky...plus i had a mickey of 5star.
as far as woodstock goes, i was too young. i remember my sister begging my mum to let her go, "everybody's going". but a big fat no for that one. she just didn't ask after that but i know she attended some excellent sh#t. thank-you for that one michele.
i can't believe i actually slipped out of genesis(m.l. gardens) to go meet some guy at the "pig pen" on the danforth! damn.
bob seger, rod stewart when he wasn't a crooner, pink floyd, and more recently, gordon lightfoot...yes he's still alive; those are the ones i remember anyway. a lot of bar bands - a lot! gas works, picadilli tube, young station, larry's hideaway, the brunswick. like i said, those are some i remember.
the chicken deli had just opened and i knew the bartender! back then i was there for the booze, but oh man did i hear some sweet music.
oh, yah. i lived in kitsalano bc for a while...i worked at the blarney stone in gas town, but i'd run next door when i could and saw/heard
some amazing people. damn. i took it all for granted hanging out with such talent. it was no big "thang". yes, "youth IS wasted on the young"
ahhhh! thanks for helping me remember. funny our house(the kids space) was filled with music. one older brother(musician) and two older sisters. yep. hundreds of albums.
oh, and my first 45 was the doors'--- crap i can't remember.
thanks guys. rock on. btw the word "groovy" was for geeks.

hmmmm, must look up doors stuff...
..."light my fire"!
of course, iron butterfly and one of their most popular songs. i'd always sing along, "ina, gotta da veeta, baby"? wtf: one of those i never understood. remember you'd alway get the lyrics-plus, so i'd look for, i guess, the meaning of life...? or something? study their px.Last edited by putt; Sun, Aug 16th, 2009 at 07:33 PM. I remember the Grandstand at the Ex. I heard the Police concert - was standing outside, could hear every note. Security didn't bother us, course I was with my Mom, a friend of the family & her daughter. No one was gonna hassle 2 well dressed ladies & their daughters.
Later I went to see Genesis there with my Mom (she's always been more hip than me). I sailed right through, but my Mom got stopped by security & searched. Had some very friendly people behind us who were coughing & hacking & happily passing mickeys & funny cigs to my Mom (not me!). I of course was mortified that my Mom knew about these things, let alone wanted to try em! She refrained cause she didn't want to chance catching a cold, although I doubt that's what was making them cough.
The one venue I really miss is the Forum at Ontario Place. One summer I was there at least once a week - somehow my friends conned me into always being the one to hold the seats & wait for 6 hrs for them to get there.
Lots of good memories there. Of course, some of the bands I saw there were decidedly un-hip (Air Supply, anyone?).
My condo's got a rooftop terrace (no pool here), it's where I go to relax (with the critters):

Maybe that was the same Police concert I was at. It's strange to think that some of us may have passed in the street years ago or been at the same event, but of course didn't know each other.
Ontario Place. Well I saw Sass Jordan there so I know what you mean, but it was a beautiful night on the grass on grass.
Who I did miss at Ontario Place was Steely Dan - one of my favs. Driving downtown at 4:30pm, getting off the QE onto Jarvis we noticed the power out and people directing traffic - it was the night of the 4 day black out - think it was 2003. Of course they couldn't play without power, but we had a blast walking around downtown meeting people and getting free beer and ice cream.
I couldn't make the makeup date for Steely Dan. I paid over $100 for a ticket which is a lot for me. I wanted to see them so bad I even paid for my boyfriend's ticket! Finally saw them at Casinorama last summer and they rocked - well worth waiting for.
Thanks for the pic. It's nice to get to know everyone. My cat won't go more than a foot outside the apartment so I'd never get her outside like that. I'm convinced she thinks there's an elevator monster.

Might have been the same concert, you never know.
I have a dislike of Sass Jordan - she was opening act for 2 different concerts I went to & both times she fell down drunk half way through the set. The second time it was 2 in the afternoon.
I went to Casinorama to see Huey Lewis on the night of the blackout. The Casino didn't announce the concert was cancelled until the show was supposed to start & no announcement about the blackout. Of course they had their own generator, so had no clue there was anything going on. I kept cursing out Huey Lewis, thinking he bailed due to Sars. Had to kill 5 hrs at the Casino with no money for gambling, waiting for the bus to get me back to Toronto. It wasn't until we were halfway back that I realized that all the traffic lights were out, not just the ones in the construction zone. Boy, did I feel stupid.
Your cat`s adorable. My Quincy cat isn't fond of the elevator, we're working on sitting nicely in the corner when I take him for walks (yes, I'm the crazy person that takes a cat for a walk). The front bench outside my condo is about as far as he'll venture though. He was a feral kitten, so he`s not in any hurry to go back to the big bad world. I take him out & about to work on his socialization, I`m actually taking him to a SC meet up tomorrow afternoon (technically a coûpon exchange, but last one was more of a meet & greet), since we`re meeting outside to enjoy the weather.
