Gail Vaz Oxlade's column in the Smart Money section of today's Toronto Star is about living in I-Wish-I -Was-Wealthy mode. Yes, I know that syndrome. I know what it's like to have an occasion come around where my wardrobe was lacking or have no money on hand for gifts. I still remember two years ago the arguments from two family members to go shopping for attire when I knew I would not find anything on demand yet these two folks are the same one on my case about a lack of income. You bet I refused to shop on their money and I wore something I had that was debt-free. This will be another article to photocopy. @Sweets parrow - I strike out at Winners for clothing but sometimes find non-essential food wants there as well as in HomeSense. My best clothing shopping luck is when I'm relaxed and not needing a garment right then but have a list of the things I'd like to add to my wardrobe, so if I see one or more possibilities, I must venture with them to the fitting rooms. Checking out different Value Village locations does make a difference I find in terms of selection and range of items @Frugalbigmama -yes the sprays used on donated items (clothing!) can be hard on the nose.

Ready for Easter? Well, I bought a dozen plastic eggs last Easter clearance at RCSS. They were $0.27, including the tax. I thought I'd hide raisins and Goldfish crackers in them and hide them all over the house. I've saved an egg carton for LO so she can know when she's found them all. That's as far as my Easter planning, though I do have to have her practice for the songs she has to perform on Easter.

    Not ready for Easter here,

we are focusing on demo next week (our bedroom & Logan's old room). We will be moving our bed into the dinning room portion as I couldn't take moving downstairs with the woodstove AND my hot flashes....eek. FIL will help next week with the demo and I will pack up our closet and move that downstairs. The we will spray foam the walls. The contractor came by this afternoon so I have my price, he may be delayed by a week, originally booked for 1st week of April but it may be the 2nd, oh well, can't do anything about that but daydream how wonderful it will to have those 2 rooms done.

We are going to book him for another project for later this spring/summer and get that project done and over with.

AND Then the next big and expensive project will be the main bathroom, total gut job, new windows, tub, sink/vanity etc. and lots of saving to accomplish that.
2019 is the year that we continue to save before we buy!!!

CG-glad you are feeling better. I too have had a head cold dragging me down for the past couple of weeks.

J and C-I really admire the way you are saving up for the renos on your house.

I did not work today so worked on my income taxes-I did some consulting last year so am doing all those home office and business use of part of my home calculations and hunting down receipts-for what I made it really is hardly worth it or to pay an accountant to do it so I think I will wrap up that little business venture!

DH and I are going out to a presentation tonight and to our DD's Big Band Cabaret on Fri night-we rarely go out in the evenings as I am usually falling asleep by nine-lol.

Hope you all have a good week! LB

    Afternoon ladies,

I haven't been on much as my depression has gotten the best of me this month.i had my cast taken off on February 24th my hand and fingers were really swollen my wrist was still really hurting Dr said that can happen after a break do to stiffness. It really hurt all week so i went to the walk-in clinic and they took an x-ray my wrist is still broken WTF,now i have to wait for the hospital clinic to call for an appointment.I'm wearing a splint on my wrist right now because it hurts to much to move it.Looks like i will have to have another cast put on not looking forward to that.

The only good thing about being homebound is that i'm saving money lol

    Good afternoon, everyone

I made the mistake of saying "what else can go wrong" on Friday. Sure enough, the universe answered. Sigh. Sat night, I went to help out at the theatre and watch a comedy. All went well...until I had to help a patron who had a mild heart attack (poor thing managed to walk out of the theatre with a bit of help, last I heard the paramedics took care of the poor thing and a full recovery was more or less guaranteed ). Gave me quite the start, let me tell ya. Went out afterwards & got drunk on root beer.

Lily dog is getting better slowly. Her range of motion is increasing (for a while she could barely turn her neck) and she can turn around now without her legs giving out (unless the goof tries to spin on a dime). She's even starting to play. I just about cried yesterday when we ran into a neighbour she's in love with and she jumped up without falling over.

My Mom had a specialist appt on Monday - nothing conclusive could be found from her test results, so she had to go for more testing. She just got back a little while ago from specialist #2 (not a good sign to get in this quickly, sigh). At this point, they're talking chemo. There are cancer cells in the liquid around her lungs, but the doctors can't find any sign of cancer. And here I thought I was the only medical whacko in the family.

bff took her to the appt & my Mom said D was just about in tears (the sweet doctor was handing kleenex to D). Mom & I are the stoic kind, gotta stay tough and fight the good fight. We'll get through this. Thought I was going to lose the critters (first Quincy cat over Xmas and Lily dog 2 weeks ago) and they're both going strong. Heck, with all I've gone through I've used up several lives (must've been a cat in a previous life ).

Better go make dinner. Lily dog is still playing at being the invalid so she can have treats for dinner. And, yes, I'm spoiling both brats - when things calm down, they can work for a living.

Hope everyone has a wonderful day.

Tomorrow it will be 5 weeks since I got sick. My cough is gone but my mouth is still too sore to eat so I keep getting weaker. Can`t make it up the stairs to bed anymore. They gave me stuff to rinse my mouth...hope it works. Also told me to drink Boost. Don`t know why I didn`t think of that before. Got blood work done and another chest x-ray. Since being so sick I`ve also developed a yeast infection...my blood sugars are all wonky. I felt like an idiot being wheeled around in a wheelchair but I was too weak to walk.

Andit: i have learned not to tempt fate with statements of what else.
Scary for your mom, but good they were quick to see her.
You and me: DH had the same issue when he broke his wrist. The good news is he has no long term Ill effects of the break. I hope you are getting support for your depression.
Tonight my older son asked me to cook extra rice and all by him self he them made his lunch by making what we call dirty rice with the left overs, no help from a parent and no recipe. Wow, how did that happen. Earlier this week he made mussels with his grandfather. My little man is grown up, of course he does stand 6 feet tall.
