@GoJays , that cloying, chemical concoction sold in stores are horrid, but I still enjoy homemade eggnog...perhaps with a little rum in it..

bwahaha!!! @Lynn49 that list for Christmas was a hoot!
If there are ANY commandments for food during the Holiday Season I have already broken every one of them!
It's too late for me....save yourselves!! ( whoever else may be reading this )
Like today for instance, I went to Bulk Barn JUST to get a few whole nutmegs for a special recipe I'm doing on the 25th.
DD had bought me the Cadillac of nutmeg graters and I was anxious to take it for a spin.
Somehow I left the store with 4 x 12" long whole cinnamon sticks, some tiny fancy silver, white, gold, green and red balls
( cake/cookie sprinkle type decorations) and a couple yards of thin red ribbon.
The cinnamon sticks I brushed all the top halves with a bit of soft icing, rolled in the decorations till they stuck, tied and curled strands of red ribbon around the very top of each stick. I pushed a 2/3" slice of nearly dried out tangerine up from the bottom of each stick so it rested just under the candy decorations.....oh yeah, I stuck cloves into the tangerine slices first.
They are sitting in fancy frosted ice cream dishes on a shelf and will ( hopefully ) make my kitchen smell yummy!
Oh and that grater impressed the heck out of me. I may never used dried nutmeg again.

Ha! I love the Christmas rules. Time for cinnamon and clove smells to swirl around the house!
@Lynn49 - that picture of the daschund hat had me in stitches!
I bought a little doggie hat for Tootie- it lasted a whole 4 seconds before she shook it off.
Well, I am glad the Hallmark channel saw the light!
I was thwarted in my efforts to phone a number of places today as my phone is kaput again!
I have not been successful in finding a transfer wheelchair for my BrotherR. Apparently the Legion is no longer allowed to distribute them as there was some kind of lawsuit.
I did go see a concert band tonight. Ouch! They were not good! They need a new trombone section and ditto for the oboe. Thanks for being so kind as to come but really - I had to leave- I couldn't stand the off-key screeching.
The flutes were very good - as well as the percussion.
@walkonby - Your description of your meal with your family was so sweet yesterday, brought tears to my eyes.
It's going to be PD cold out there tonight- but not so bad in the daytime.
Well, take care- sleep well and just think...Christmas is just around the corner!

That's a very fine (-ly ground) line you're looking for there @GoJays ... (finely because the course ground would just hurt)
...and with that out of the way, I'll be back in a bit...I need my morning dose of finely ground.DANGER

Good morning!
So how's this for an early morning call....our DD just called to let us know that a clerk at the RCSS's deli counter here has Hepatitis A, and if anyone purchased counter-sliced deli meat in the past 5 weeks, they may have to get vaccinated!
Yep, we fall into that category and served that meat to the kids (not GS) on a charcuterie board when they were here decorating the tree.
Our health unit has ordered a load of vaccines and will open free clinics.
How's that for a wake-up call?
Anyway....GS's concert today, and on top of his classroom song, he and 2 other friends will play 3 Christmas carols on their guitars...so that'll be so nice to see.
Then to the kids' home for snacks (they only buy packaged deli meats, lol)....
Ok! Hope your days start on a more fun note than ours did!
Enjoy your day!

Doesn't it, though, @GoJays !!
Here's one for us...which seems appropriate in this case...
