Lynn, a grand idea but like other innovations, cost is a huge barrier for most people.

Husband came for a visit and brought supper. I think you can only imagine eating the same seven day menu for over three months - I have had more than enough!

Today was the ward doctor's last day. She came to speak with me, and met my husband. She wants to see me in three months, and said she could do my knees again then since the timing works well. She was doing requisitions for bloodwork, meds, and other paperwork - long after her shift. She is most wonderful, and I am SO glad to have her in my coterie of specialists!

    Good night!

Working on doing groceries for my tiny fridge lol. Because I can’t buy big amounts anymore. I’m definitely making it work so far.

    Good morning everyone.
A busy day ahead of me . Waiting for everyone in my house to wake up so we can start the day. My DH decided that we can get start moving my DD today. She has lots of stuff to bring home since she will not be living at that house. Don’t want to pay an extra months rent so will finish moving her today and leave the house clean and just keep our finger cross that there are no damages to the wall painting when her posters come down . No carpet in the house.

Enjoy whatever you all plan to do today.

Good morning, @flemeth , sleepyheads! What a day to move your DD back home...is it pouring where you are?

A dull day outside, but no rain. I just looked at accuweather's radar map, and you all in the south look like the skies have broken open over you! At least only a few need to hit those highways for work. What a drive north for Dan to take if they left this morning!

@Natalka , yes, absolutely those types of retirement homes aren't for everyone. I cant believe that dinners there are on a 7 day rotation! How boringly awful! But home soon!!

Coffee's on, time to sip and chat with Hubby and watch your weather reports from southern Ontario to the east coast. Stay home, stay safe, everyone!

@Lynn49 no rain here as yet but it is grey out. Maybe my DH will have a change of plans once he is up.

You must also be north of it all or perhaps in that little clear pocket around Ottawa. Just stay safe out there, it's not worth taking chances in blinding rain. Hope it stays clear for you.

oh wow! and here I thought I was the only one up early today! Hi @flemeth Hope the move of your DD belongings goes smoothly. Seems like so long ago we did that trek back and forth for our eldest. First 2 yrs. he could not afford to remain there over the summer....the whole ordeal was quite the pita for DH and I but no choice.
@Lynn49 ....did I ever love those retirement home pics! Just imagine how calming it would feel to stroll through the home and the common areas. There is no actual rain here yet but when I went outside to pack some stuff into the vehicle it smelled like rain was a possibility.

I'm donating a fully stuffed garbage bag of clothes from DS closet.....I've finally accepted he will never wear any of these.
A few still had the tags on them while others were worn once or twice.....grrrr! Why do some guys never want to wear
" colour! " Brown and black are very boring guys.

Everyone knows this was Good Friday right? Well....silly me, I was heading out to shop for a few items today, as well as pick up a parcel at the P.O. ( card left here ) and when the guys got home after work last night I asked them what were they going to take in for their work meal on Friday. There was immediate silence, crickets really.....then DH goes " ugh, you know we are off Friday right? everyone is! "

You know that scene in Get Out where the actor falls into the " sunken place" ? I could feel myself falling, trying to grasp what the actual date was.... then my red face appeared....oops! I KNEW it was Easter I really did but my brain let me down at that moment. So stores and P.O. are closed...guess I am doing housework today.

I have the dessert for Sunday's dinner fleshed out. Turns out there were 2 of those store bought graham crusts in my stockpile, so I will make one as a regular pumpkin pie ( the kind with the sweetened condensed milk and eggs in it ) and then I am filling the other crust with a pumpkin cheesecake mixture! Mmmmmm.....pumpkin really is the popular pie in this house, so I am sure to score points there, lol.

Turkey was yanked from his freezer home yesterday ( he's been there since Thanksgiving, ha ha ) and placed into the small fridge to slowly thaw. I have a pork roast I am excited to bake up. The other one like this was already cooked ( they are from Sobeys ) and I asked to leave one of them uncooked when I was doing the Food to go deal there.
The family raved about the taste of the first one so lets hope I don't screw this one up.
My guess is this thing is loaded with extra salt and sugar making it extra tasty....what else could make people go gaga over a roast like that?

@Natalka all the very best to you once you return to your digs. At the very least you are not going to have to endure that 7 day cycle of hospital food anymore. Have a lovely Easter!

    @Natalka !! Help!?

Nat, I want to make my Mom's traditional cottage cheese, raisin cheesecake which was always one of our DD's favourite desserts her Baba used to make. And mine, omof, couldn't stop eating it!

Anyway, I don't have her recipe here so I've been struggling to find one on here. I recall of course, the filling, but I can't recall if there was a "crust" on the bottom, and or a topping of whipped sweet whites before baking! Did your Mom and you ever make this dessert and if so, do you recall whether or not those were included! It's all about the cheesecake, but.....help?

Hope everyone has a good Easter weekend. Going to my cousins place tomorrow for his fish fry. I’m still vegan (95% of the time lol) so I’ll have a piece of fish, so sue me ha.

@Lynn49 - I have never had that, it's called syrnyk.
So I don't have a recipe, but perhaps you could look through some of these to see what sounds right to you

Good day, everyone! Just having a rest after physio, snacking on pomegranate applesauce - I only had part of a bran muffin for breakfast two hours ago.

That was my last physio session. I did cane walking by the barre, barely holding on, then I would switch sides and put my hand on the physiotherapist's - trying not to exert much pressure on her. My lower back and hips are quite sore after doing 20 minutes of that.

I am going to wash up, then go through my drawers and pack up some stuff.

Happy Easter Nat-enjoy your get out of jail card-just kidding but you must be excited to be going home at long last. I am happy to hear you will be getting some home care. Even though I am with Mum right now in Toronto 24/7 to care for her after a fall, I so appreciate the lady that comes in twice per day to shower and dress Mum and do her hair etc. She does 1 hr each morning and evening which gives me a little break or nap as I am often up in the night with her or time to prepare dinner, run a load of laundry or whatever-even go for a walk. Yesterday it took me more than one hr to book a ride for both of us on Toronto's disabled transit system-granted it was the first time using it( she just got approved) and I am out from out of province, but I still had to hold on the phone for 50 minutes whilst trying unsuccessfully to book online. Good grief I really don't know how injured, elderly or disabled people are supposed to do all that on their own-she has a broken arm and I could barely achieve the task with 2 arms and I am feeling fine. Anyway end of rant-other than I hope the rain stops here soon. Happy Easter all.

Thank you, @Natalka...I've had that before, not one of my favourites, but one that usually crept into desserts at teas.

    https://ahundredyearsago.com/2017/02...ge-cheese-pie/

That is more like the one my Mom made as far as the filling is concerned except she used raisins instead of currants which I find too grainy anyway, but I'm pretty sure it had some sort of sweet crumb crust, but not a graham one...more like a flour/butter/sugar type crust which isn't hard to find.
Okay, I'm going to use this recipe since it has ingredients I remember, but I'll add a sugar crust, and the egg white topping, then bake.

Thank you for looking that up for me, Hon!!
