Anyone else mad about vaccine passports? Ours in NB go into effect next Wednesday. You’ll have to show proof of vaccination and government ID almost everywhere. I believe that as many people as possible should get vaccinated however it should never be forced on people. People shouldn’t be losing their rights and freedom over it either. No one should have to show strangers their private medical information (wether it be the proof of vaccination or a doctors note with the medical condition that exempts them.) and the government ID on top of that. My kids are younger and still in grade school but even in high school I wouldn’t be giving them ID to go out eat out for lunch. (My kids ID is Medicare cards that stay in my husbands wallet or a birth certificate that stays at home. It’s one thing if the high school kid has a drivers licence with their photo on it but many don’t.)

Absolutely agree about the mandatory exposure of your private medical information.
I might even be able to swallow that indignation if the damn passports actually worked!
Currently, Alberta has been reporting increasing rates of hospitalization for fully vaccinated people. It was 16%, then 18%, then 22%, 25%, 26%, now 27% of people in hospital CoVid wards are fully vaccinated. If every single person person in the entire world was double-dosed with vaccine, then it would just mean that there would be 100% of all CoVid wards with fully vaccinated people. The Israelis are alread showing this trend, with 50% of their hospitalization cases already fully vaccinated (and everyone had their ridiculously useless passports.)
Passport systems just try to find easy scapegoats and excuses for the dangerous behaviour of the vaccinated. My food may not befit a king, but I eat like a horse.

Ok, well, Quebec's vax passport has been in effect for a few weeks now and everything is working fine. Contrary to belief, the vax passport does not show your private medical information. All it shows is your name and whether you have been double vaxxed. Showing my ID is no biggy. They just want to know if the name matches. And the only place weve been asked to show our faces is at the Casino de Montreal. You still have the basic freedoms that we are all entitled to (groceries, gas, hospitals, clinincs and lots of others) But if you want to go to restos, gyms, hockey arenas, bars, outdoor restos, you need to show your vax passport. I equate this with smoking. Smoking is now banned in all public places, no exceptions. Did anyone protest that their freedoms were being taken away.
I totally agree with the vax passport. The only way to eradicate this disease is to get vaccinated and therefore impose restrictions on the non-vaccinated.

I watch the same news as you, CTV, CBC, and Global.
Those percentages are the vaccinated. The rest are unvaccinated. The facts are still the facts. 74% of the hospitalizations are unvaccinated and 26% are vaccinated. The ratio may be 3:1, but that is still a significant proportion of vaccinated people showing up in hospitals. My food may not befit a king, but I eat like a horse.

[Emphasis mine]
This is a total contradiction. Your vaccination status is private medical information; no different from your HIV status, cancer diagnosis, blood type, or state of pregnancy.
Trying to equate vaccination to smoking is a desperate red herring, because second-hand smoke has solid research showing harm while the evidence behind passports is showing the exact opposite; more vaccinated are getting infected. My food may not befit a king, but I eat like a horse.

Funny how you can play with numbers to make them say what you want. Maybe have a read of this CBC article and let us know what you think. I a sure you will turn the numbers to your view. But please have a read...
https://www.cbc.ca/news/canada/calga...tion-1.6178449
"Recent rates of hospitalization, intensive care unit (ICU) admission and death among unvaccinated Albertans have been at least eight times higher — and as much as 60 times higher — compared to the fully vaccinated population, depending on which age range you look at.
These types of comparisons can be tricky, because the risk of severe outcomes increases with age, but so too does the rate of vaccination. As such, population-wide comparisons don't tell the full story. For example, it's often reported that unvaccinated Albertans make up just 32 per cent of the population but a whopping 74 per cent of the COVID-19 patients in hospital. But this actually under-represents the risk for unvaccinated adults, because a huge proportion of the unvaccinated population is made up of children who are both ineligible for the vaccine and unlikely to end up in hospital."
I know you will spin this to your view ... but these are numbers.
I won't be back to read your reply. No need really.

on another note, i heard on the news yesterday that some of the Afghan refuges are coming with Measles (which has been eradicated here through vaccines). Sound familiar. Vaccines = eradicated diseases.

Sigh, more scientific ignorance masquerading as fact. Just because the word 'vaccine' appears, does not mean that they are the same. Throwing around big words in hopes of misleading unsuspecting members is why CoVid continues to spread.
Look up 'sterilizing immunity' before spreading more mis-information.My food may not befit a king, but I eat like a horse.

It's good that there has been a firm statement about valid medical exemptions for Covid 19 vaccines:
https://toronto.ctvnews.ca/ontario-c...ines-1.5572833
Also, just wanted to mention that the goal of vaccines at this point is to slow the massive hits the healthcare system is taking. The idea being that the progression and damage to folks would be more manageable if vaccinated. IE: you could be treated on a floor, rather than in an ICU.
I was set to get my third shot, but had to bring up my infusion earlier and there's a bit of a waiting period between the two, but I'll be ready when my time comes.
I read an article the other day about how lung transplants (like those on lists needing them) are eclipsing hearts as the most needed organs in some areas...

I really wish measles was eradicated in Canada.
2018: 29 cases in 5 provinces
https://www.canada.ca/en/public-heal...nada-2018.html
2017: 45 cases in 7 provinces
https://www.canada.ca/en/public-heal...nada-2017.html
Just a couple of examples. There were more...Last edited by Shwa Girl; Mon, Sep 20th, 2021 at 03:36 PM.

Good news: Pfizer vaccine may be ready soon in USA for children age 5-11 years. They have test results for over 2000 children. Some tested are as young as 6 months old. The children get a 1/3 dose of vaccine that adults get.

Starting Tuesday at midnight, it will be mandatory to wear a mask in indoor public spaces in New Brunswick
I’m happy about this since we’ve never stopped wearing our masks… that being said I wish they would get rid of the vaccine passports since they are reimplementing a lot of the precautions they eliminated when we moved into green phase.

They won't get rid of the passports any more than they will the masks. It's the way politicians can say, "Look, Look! We're doing something!"
They may as well come back with the ridiculous digital thermometer checkpoints, for all the good any of them do.My food may not befit a king, but I eat like a horse.
