Well, everyone, I'm off on vacation for the next two weeks and probably won't have access to a computer often enough to keep up with this thread. Hope everyone enjoys the rest of August and may your frugal adventures be plentiful and prosperous.

    I'll be back in September!

I used my FPC coupon here at northmart. My mom used hers at walmart. I used a FPC coupon for glad trashbags for $8 at Extra foods.

It's in the back of my mind to start a group and teach this stuff at some point.
Have you checked overdrive or online libraries for a digital copy?

I found "Its your money" "never too late" and "money rules" all at our local library.

    For stains
-Scrub (toothbrush) with a detergent for cloth diapers after soaking (make a paste and scrub with a toothbrush)
    -Scrub with "Buncha Farmer's Stick"
-Sun them (put them in the sun for a day or two)

    For ammonia smell
    -Do a "stripping" wash
-Soak for and hour in "strip detergent" and hot water and do a regular wash following

I like Laundry Tarts which can be bought at Well.ca. I used Rockn Green in the past but it is more expensive.

The comment about bleach is true. You also shouldn't use bleach as it can destroy the waterproofing (depending on the diaper type your are using).

Thank you so much for recommending the products you use! I didn't think of looking online for laundry detergent.

Yesterday we were out on the water for 6 hours and saw a pod of 6 killer whales, seals, porpoises, bald eagles and herons so it was a great day. Of course in true SC style I had to use my 25% off coupon from the Entertainment book for the whale watch so that saved me over $50 which was nice! Our friends have joined us for the weekend before heading back to Calgary tomorrow-we head home on Wed and we have had a great trip.

morning all, sorry I have been missing in action but work/life has been insane. We leave Sunday for our vacation so that has been great for the grocery budget as I am buying nothing and eating what we have. And of course the vacation was a budgeted item so all is good. We have our sons b-days both in the next 4 weeks and they will both receive their gifts before we leave as they are needed for the trip. will try to catch up on the thread now, you ladies are busy.

frugal wise~ I need to make a menu plan, steam clean my youngests bedroom, and maybe work on a Christmas afgan I am doing for a gift.

Gracious, diapers are expensive. I just purchased diapers for the first time today and am staggered at how much they cost. Sometimes, you really need some that weren't planned purchases just because LOs go through them faster than I blink. DH has no idea how much they are because I'm always the one that refills and restocks everything. However, he just loves disposables because they're so convenient. I'm not sure how they're more convenient than the cloth ones, since I wash those ones anyways.

This morning we went out for breakfast. There was a yard sale right where we parked. Normally I don`t even look because our house is already way too full. But there was something that caught my eye. To give background...we have an entertainment unit that we paid a hefty amount for years ago but when our TV quit working we decided to go bigger. It won`t fit so for a few years we`ve had it on top. DH has issues with his eyes so it`s less than ideal. Any TV stands I`ve looked at don`t have much storage. (We have a ton of movies) Which brings me to this morning. They had what I think is the bottom part of a china cabinet. Solid maple wood...the top needs to be refinished but other than that its nice. Picked it up for $50. The nice (strong) ladies who sold it to us loaded it in the car for us and a couple neighbours put it in the garage. I`m going to put the old unit in the computer room for storage so I need to get rid of a desk and filing cabinet.

Shopper's drug mart has their Babylife brand on sale this week. Unit cost is 25 cents a diaper. I like them and a quarter per nappy is good for disposables.
