She runs away whenever we rip off the foil but loves playing with balls of it. Strange cat.

    Well boxes are very important!
The last cat condo we bought them, they sniffed and jumped in the box it came in.

What I find fun is when Quincy decides that a tupperware container barely big enough for one paw is the perfect size to get into (box then gets smacked for being too small).

The boy is annoyed cause I was cuddling with Lily dog this morning and let her have the sunnier spot on the carpet.

He seems to have forgotten that he smacked Lily dog this morning for napping in the sunny spot on the carpet.

Good gracious. I see the cat club thread has dipped below that "other" (bow wow) thread. This will not do.

Here is my Dixie having another weird cat moment. She became ours last year when her inexperienced momma abandoned her and her siblings when they were only one week old. We took in two of them and bottle fed them. I have never in my life had a cat THIS loving before. Ever. And she's very weird--probably because humans are her parents. LOL.

Thank you Nat! We love her very much; she brings us a lot of joy in the day and more joy at night.

She's a funny one, alright. She follows me everywhere I go. My own personal stalker.

She likes water and hopping in the shower because she liked to be petted with wet hands. She likes sleeping in the bed and under the blankets with the humans. She likes chasing the dog into the crate every night when we put her to bed and she gives the dog a big swat on the bum just to show her who is really boss around here.

So glad that momma abandoned her babies. Well, not really, (LOL) but I think the bottle feeding is what made her so much more lovable than a cat that has been raised by the mother. She is THE most trusting animal in the whole wide world. She has her absolute faith in us all the time.

Well, she imprinted on you, that's very special.
That's crazy that she likes water - we had one cat years ago who didn't mind water.
I've always wondered how it is that a cat can get along with a dog, such an interesting relationship!

Our cats follow us, too - both me and my husband. Then, we call them our puppies!

Is she a good purrer? That's my weakness... Our Vader is easy to get purring and she's loud. Taffy is very quiet, you can only feel it, or hear it only if she's up to your ear.

Dixie is a good purrer, yes. Not too loud, not too soft.

As for the cat-dog relationship, it kind of evolved in a bizarre way.

Our dog is a chihuahua and the same size as a cat. When we first got the dog, we had a different cat who was the real mothering-type. We brought this scrawny, terrified puppy home and the matronly cat took to the dog right away. Groomed her like she was a kitten. Snuggled her. etc. The pup would try to play with her and she was extremely tolerant of that given that puppies like to play with their teeth and tug and pull. That cat let the pup tear at her fur and carry on like....well...like a dog would. The cat never clawed or got angry with her. Just sat there and tolerated it. When puppy got out of hand, cat would gently swat her with a paw and sometimes hold her down to show her that she'd had enough, but that was it. Here's them. They LIVED in that basket together and it's kinda funny but the dog hasn't gone in that bed since that cat died:

So our dog only knows cats as "friends."

That cat died a few years later. About a month after she died, we wound up with these two mewling kittens only a week old. The dog sprung into action as best she could though she'd never been a mother before. She was VERY interested in those kittens. At first we thought she wanted to eat them, but she wanted to nurture them. She was licking their bottoms like a mother dog would to her puppies (which was helpful because that was kind of the yucky part about raising these kittens at that age--trying to toilet them when they were so little) and when they cried, she would rush to the box and sniff around and try to help. She tried to play with them as well. It's always been hilarious to watch because cats and dogs play so differently from each other.

So Dixie has never viewed dogs as anything but "friends" either.

I would dress up my cat...but I'm pretty sure she'd retaliate...with explosives or something. hahaha. I don't really wanna find out.

Yes, real men love cats - and those who aren't sure, end up loving them too!

    WARNING - Language alert...

When I was teaching at a forensic psychiatry facility (federal multi-level security), there was a cat in the library. So all these big tough murderers, bank robbers, etc. would get all gushy over the kitty - really good therapy, actually.

When I volunteered at the shelter we would often get big tough bikers come in with tiny kittens they found at the side of the road... bikers who wrapped the kitten inside their jackets for the ride back and were covered in scratches or put them in their helmets and drove not wearing one

I remember my first time alone when they pulled up, kinda scary as the plaza had other stores but in they came with a scrawny little grey kitten they had named Harley and he better keep the damn name lol
