crochetlady don't be hard on yourself about the weight gain as you know a lot of it has to do with the prednisone, enjoy your cookies and chocolate you only live once and have some for me as gully (gullbladder) is not being very kind to my bad eating habits

I have the virtual card linked to my pic financial. My understanding is I can redeem them all with my Mastercard but if I redeem with the virtual card it won't redeem anything earned by spending with my mastercard.

I'm being lazy this weekend. Still not feeling 100 percent so I'm reading and knitting today. One of the boys is with us the other is at a hockey tourny. I'm contemplating signing up for 2 days of counting inventory at one of the stores here at the end of the month for extra $$.

@jasperandchar -think your freezer clearout is well-timed. Has the outdoor temperature warmed up this afternoon where you are? It's supposed to be around -2C soon.
@SassyAshley -I'm pleased you were able to reschedule your training schedule for more time/allow for weather conditions! Just a note about stress-you might need to keep up your magnesium intake(bananas have it plus potassium too) to help offset what your body depletes in challenging encounters.

Housekeeping issues at home-I need to ignore what the others are not keeping clean/maintained or causing safety issues and find things to absorb my attention elsewhere. Another reality check delivered...

my freezer looked a little like this (not my freezer) but ya get the point...

I think I will keep a better handle on this or the next time lilo does her I'll do mine

Good news is that now I only have the 1 freezer plugged in so should be a little less hydro being used
I love the extra space you get when its cleaned.

I gained nearly 40lbs when I first started on prednisone. I was recovering from the transplant surgery and going back and forth to the hospital for testing, so was limited in what I could do the first month, and when I realized just how much weight I gained I freaked out. I went back to portion control (had to do that on dialysis, since some foods were on my no-no list, but I could have a taste just to keep me from cheating) and that helped. It took 3 months, but the weight came off.

Nothing wrong with eating chocolate or cookies, you deserve a treat. Says the gal who polished off half a box of Russel Stover chocolates this afternoon.

Steak and potatoes on the BBQ today, nice to have easy clean up as I DH & I spent the day prepping soup and making mince for the freezer. He does the veg. The mince is so easy and freezes well. Its recipe of his (British) family. If anyone wants to try it I am not exact with the measurements. Its ground beef, shredded potato, carrot celery & onion all shredded. Mix well and add some bisto (I was using a family sized pack of beef with a ¼ cup of bisto mixed in a cup of water) then we add ½ cup of HP sauce. Then cook at 350 degrees for as long as it takes (usually about an hour). Don’t discard the liquid as that makes it yummier. The nice thing is with adding the veg you can make a smaller amount of meat go farther. We serve it with mashed potatoes.
I never did make it to Winners, but I did score a jar of jam for 34 cents at Target

What burns my butt is that at first when the prednisone made me so hungry, I was able to control my eating. Now I`m not that hungry anymore but I want to snack all the time. When it comes to cookies and chocolate I have no control over portions. I eat til I`m too full and feel uncomfortable although I did limit myself to 2 cookies today. I need to get back to having prepared veggies and fruit in the fridge. I know I won`t over eat those. lol

That`s what my first upright freezer always looked like. When it needed to be replaced I got a self defrosting one. Best decision I ever made. Now if only the chest freezer would defrost itself.

    Good morning, everyone.

Off to spend the day with friends for a combo Xmas/b-day celebration lunch (3 out of 4 of us were born within a month of each other, the other gal is a couple of years and 2 months older). Should be lots of fun (my one friend is an excellent chef and will spoil us rotten with her cooking).

Lily dog was upset with me this morning cause I didn't feel like sitting outside and spying on the neighbours, even after I explained that they were all still sound asleep in their beds. It didn't help that one of her admirers couldn't sleep and went down to their car to get something as we were returning home, so now she's calling me a liar.

Hope everyone has a wonderful day.
