Cabmonk, 22Hicks...I had no idea; I guess that puts us into a club no one wants to belong to.
I'm so sorry for your losses, also. Try as we might to put on a happy face, sometimes thoughts of our loved ones who have passed this time of year just stab us in the heart.
I guess it's a difficult time for so many who have lost loved ones at any time of the year.....

So tired but hey it's a short week lol. Finished work at 5.30am and went to do laundry at 7am. Now waiting to go for lunch and shopping with aunt at 2pm. Maybe I can rest for a few hours later before work.

When I first heard about the show tiny house hunters. I thought it was small people searching for a house. :p

So sorry for everyone's losses - though ours didn't fall just at Christmas, it was when it started. My mom had come here to the city for Christmas Eve celebration at my sister's - the winter was particularly bad that year, and none of us kids had seen her for over a month (well, my brother lived with her, but he was oblivious...). It was awful to see her, so obvious something was very wrong. She got put into the hospital Christmas Day and passed away six weeks later.
I really can fall into a funk and not even want to have Christmas the way we do - and feel like a petulant little kid who wants it to be like the ones I grew up with... I try to not have too many crying jags but for me it's better to get it out.
Sigh!

Oh my goodness, Nat, you sound so much like me: I, too, want to stomp my foot and demand that Christmas be just like it was when I was growing up and hopefully our tots had the same feeling, but oh, there was always so much going on from Christmas to "Little Christmas" in January...new fancy clothes (we all dressed up in such beautiful fabrics), so many visitors, so many occasions to visit with people and their kids (and our crushes, lol)...and the music and singing. Every day seemed like another special occasion...I think you had the same Christmases growing up as I had; those were very special times.
Like you, I still shed a tear or several, remembering it all and wishing I could re-live those years with more appreciation than even I had before..and to see my parents all gussied up, so happy and busy...good old days, indeed.
I'm feeling better now....retail therapy can do that for me, then Hubby took me out for an early dinner at Finn McCools...it's been so long since we used to make Irish coffees all the time in the 70s, lol...
I hope that we can all enjoy Christmas with our families...toast the past, and get on with the future! I have much better hopes for 2016!

Yup, Lynn, you described it well.
Interesting, after I wrote all that out - I went and baked some cookies, and felt better!
It's the first thing I've baked; I've been procrastinating.

Evening folks.
i had a nice day. My son, his wife and their 2 dogs came over. They have a great dane & a Rottweiler, so it was a zoo here, but I'm not complaining. My DS had made a huge pan of lasagna, a salad and a cake. Quite the feast for me. I hadn't seen him in almost 2 months, so I loved the visit. I'm still smiling.
I also want to thank every1 for their b/day wishes. It's wonderful having so many 'friends' on S.C.

Good morning everyone

Holidays' start this afternoon, leading into the new year.
If I don't drop back in later today, Merry Christmas, Happy Holidays and Warmest wishes for a wonderful New Year to everyone in our amazing SC Community. Thank you so much for making 2015 such a great year.
For all those enjoying the warmer weather (lucky us) let's hope it stays a while longer.
For all those enduring the frigid Canadian climate, enjoy the warmth by the fireplace!
See everyone back here 2016!
Dan
p.s. If anyone has any suggestions or ideas for the QotW threads for 2016, I'd love to hear them! Please send me a PM, as (in all honesty) I will probably not read back through all the posts between now and the new year.
