Last night was pita pit. Tonight will be pita pit again. Hopefully the hottie that served me last night will be there again because I could do with some distracting eye candy.
Love like crazy everyday and smile.

Here's my update/plan for meals at the moment. FYI: I am up right now because LO doesn't want to go to sleep in his crib right now.
Sunday: Deer roast (from dad), gravy, fresh garden potatoes (dug a few plants that afternoon), tossed salad (out of the garden: lettuce, swisschard, green onion, cherry tomatoes. Out of the fridge: carrot, celery), roasted carrots, db brought a bottle of coke to go with it. I had a Chapman's ice cream sandwich for desert.
Monday: dh made hamburger helper with a little tinkering, cheap HH, free ground beef, 1/2 price sourcream.
Tuesday: invited to a friend's house for supper. She admitted that she had a nap and woke up 1/2hr before meal time, so ordered in. We had Domino's pizza, wings, cheese bread, with a glass of milk. I brought home made rhubarb muffins for desert.
Wednesday: plan on making deer stew with the leftovers: deer roast, gravy, pot barley, carrots, celery, spices (wish I had yellow onions, but Sobeys did not get in their sale onions last week and didn't have them in yesterday for me to use my raincheck). Again, with a glass of milk.
Thursday: kabobs: marinated steak, mushrooms, celery, young zucchini (from the garden), again wishing for inexpensive yellow onions, with rice and a glass of milk.
Friday: invited back over for supper to the same friend's house because she wants to try cooking that meal for us again.
We are looking at making lasagne on the weekend, but our Sobeys location was out of cottage cheese...so I'll have to try and pick that up another day.
That is as far as I have planned at this point.Last edited by Angela273; Wed, Aug 7th, 2013 at 08:49 AM.

I am seriously stuck on what to have for dinner tonight. Mom is working and wont be home (this is a first in months) so I am over run with things I want to make for me. A lot of my dinner dishes she does not like says they do not fill her up so right now I am torn on what to make, but whatever it is will need to be somewhat quick as I have a lot to get done in my little bit of alone time.

Last night I made the most delish roasted corn salsa with roma tomatoes , jalapeños peppers and garlic. Iserved it with my spcy marinated chicken and since the jalapeños were hotter than usual I added a bit of crumbled goat cheese on top. I only wish there were leftovers
. Tonight will be dogs on the bbq

This is my go to recipe I have used for years Angela.Hope you like them!!Don't peek while they are cooking!!! think the important thing to remember when making dumplings and stew is to always have a lot of gravy/broth in the stew because the dumplings absorb quite a bit!!
Joy of Cooking Dumplings
Mix together - 2 cups plain flour, 1 TABLESPOON (that's right) baking powder, 3/4 tsp. salt - in a large bowl and set aside.
Bring just to a simmer in a small saucepan:
3 T. butter and 1 cup milk
Add this mixture to the dry ingredients, stir with a fork or knead by hand - 2 to 3 times, until the mixture just comes together.
Divide the dough into about 18 puffy dumplings (I didn't count them but I think we had a lot). Roll
each piece of dough into a rough ball. Gently lay the formed dumplings on top of your stew/broth/chicken mixture, cover, and simmer for 10 minutes. Serve immediately.
A great comfort dish!Last edited by thriftygranny; Wed, Aug 7th, 2013 at 07:22 PM.
