just read how you used up a bell pepper than was on it's way out and made up a quickie pasta. I did the same with my chili. DH never cuts off the soft or brown spots on veggies, he takes one look at them and says it's bad. Knowing this, I trimmed the bad away from the red and green peppers, making certain the parts he and DS were going to be chopping were firm and good. He was none the wiser! ha ha

I had a little chuckle about your post saying with your German/Irish heritage you get nervous when the spuds are low. I'm married to a meat 'n potatoes guy and who's Ukrainian/East Coast? heritage, me Italian with bits of English/Irish/Scottish so spuds must always be under our sink....ha ha
These sales of 10 lbs. for $1.88 are too good to pass up.

hi and ty for the like. I am NOT joking about if I don't bake, boil, stew, fry or put together a nice hot meal, the guys will take sandwiches into work! ha ha They are more lazy than inept at cooking....ha ha

Just read your post about trying to chill for a day and see if you have new found energy the next day. For me that never works either. The busier I am, the more I get done. Lord help me when I sit, I never want to get up.
Best of luck on making more of the depleted product at your workplace. Demand is high from what you are saying, normally that is a good thing., but during covid, it just adds to the stress.

Ran out of room. The second week of no earnings is known as the waiting period. Ideal situation is that your mom doesn't have have any earnings this second week. Any earnings in this week may reduce benefits for next 3 weeks.

The only caution with going ahead with an EI application in your mom's situation is that she will be using her weeks of entitlement for a period when she has an income.

This brings me to next topic which is the Emergency Support Benefit administered by the CRA. I have not seen any details about the eligibility requirements. From the limited information I have at the moment, I would expect that your mom would qualify for benefits under this program if she is unemployed and has exhausted her EI Benefits. I'm not sure if a reduction of hours would make her eligible for benefits. We should know more soon.

Sorry to hear about your mom. In this situation, I believe these are her options:

1.) Check with her employer if the company will be applying for the EI Work Sharing program. If the employer is participating in this program, she can apply for EI work sharing benefits and may receive a "reference code" to expedite her EI application.

    https://www.canada.ca/en/employment-...igibility.html

2.) Speak to her employer about staggering her hours with her coworkers, such that they have 14 consecutive calendar days with no work and earnings ideally on weeks starting on Sunday and ending on Saturday.

The first week of no earnings is known as an interruption of earnings. Without an interruption of earnings, she will not be eligible to establish an EI Regular Benefits claim.

I think it is time to send you a huge (((HUG))). Take care, I know how hard you work every day yet your " to do " list just keeps growing. I hope you and Mom can get some serious chats going to figure out her unhealthy sleep patterns.

ha ha !! Isn't it so awful that the day after I get a fabulous weigh-in at the Clinic of dropping 5 more lbs. we immediately run to a buffet restaurant? Old habits die hard with us. We are justifying this meal as a celebration of one of our son's accomplishing a milestone! Any excuse to eat Chinese food eh? ha ha

just as an aside, I can hardly wait till my DH retires in Dec of 2019!! I am never going to have to make work meals again!! We are hoping our DS quits from that company in Sept of that year as well and enrolls back into a trade school of some sort because there is no way DH can be his " ride " into work after he retires. It is just way too far from where we live.
