I am putting this in a separate post because I did not want it to get lost or accidentally overlooked. My Dad raised us three children and I am his youngest. I graduated high school 10yrs ago and have been living on my own, etc. ever since. Here's the thing. My Dad keeps having the same conversation with me and it bothers me. Our son just turned 2yrs old earlier this month. My Dad has been asking about the next grandchild for the last year already. Just this afternoon my Dad was telling me that I should hurry up and get pregnant before winter. When I told him that we were planning on taking LO out ice-skating, my Dad didn't want me on the ice. It turned out that his reason for not wanting me on the ice wasn't because of the blood-thinners that I take daily, but because he didn't want me on the ice while I was pregnant. On that side note, dh insists that I am not allowed on the ice without a helmet, so I guess I am going to be the dorky parent wearing a helmet on the ice while still in winter boots.

Regarding my employment: I am anticipating mixed reactions to me being pregnant as a substitute teacher, some people might want to get me more work while others might frown on it (preparing to go on EI) and avoid giving me work. I know that legally, I cannot be denied work, but as a substitute teacher it is somewhat easy for people to avoid calling me into their school to teach.

Over these various conversations with my Dad I have told him that if I don't get enough work, I will not even qualify for EI, let alone max it out this time. I needed to let my body properly recover, which is best for my entire family. I am a high risk pregnancy every time because of my health history, my entire family is aware of this. I have reminded Dad about the expenses associated with my high risk pregnancies and paying for a growing family. I have told my Dad that it is my body and I will tell him when we are pregnant (although I don't know how many weeks after we know, before I tell others). So I guess my question is, how do I get people to stop? How do I get people to understand that this was not an easy decision for my husband and I to decide to wait a year longer than we had initially planned? How do I get people to understand that their questions hurt my feelings and haunt me? It's not just my Dad that asks when we are having the next baby: my brother, sometimes my mom, an employee at Sobeys, old acquaintances, random people at church, etc. DH told me tonight that I should tell my Dad to just F*** off next time he starts asking me about another grandchild.
Dont worry about other peoples curiousity when it comes to babies. When it comes to your mom or your dad just tell them that it will happen when the time is right. I noticed with people TRYING desperately to get pregnant that they try and they try and theres so much pressure it doesnt happen...they give up theres no pressure and bam someones pregnant. I've had friends who did IVF had twins were told that was the only conception that would ever happen for them...11 months after the twins were born they were announcing an unplanned NATURAL pregnancy.

I get asked all the time when i'm going to have kids. I cant it will kill me. On top of that BF has had a vasectomy because he didnt want more than his two boys when his youngest was born he had it done. Expecting him to have it reversed on the off chance we could conceive and the risks involved for myself would be crazy. He has agreed we can consider adopting though because he does know how i feel.

It hurts when people ask because I havent known for long i cant (a couple years) and its hard to accept. It isnt general knowledge..in fact my mom, sisters, one cousin and my bf and his mom have been told. I dont want others to feel sorry for me but having our immediate family know made the questions stop. My grandma doesnt know but that is because...she would tell everyone in the extended family.

I think the girl who did this should be held accountable, they are old enough to realize what they are doing is wrong.

Angela, I understand where you are coming from on the "advice". My mom recently has gotten on a kick that she is never going to be a grandmother and it seems like every time we are out and sees baby items I get reminded that I am never going to need those. As well other members in my family have pretty much told me I am now too old to find someone who will put up with as I am now too stuck in my single habits as they put it. I am super sensitive when it comes to dating and usually feel like something is wrong with me so needless to say super bad subject. I used to sit there and take it and would than leave the event or excuse myself and go cry. Now I have found the best thing to do is stand up for myself, when it starts, I will nicely ask them to stop if they do not I will get mad and if they keep pushing I will go to leave. Usually at this point they will stop as they do not want to explain to the rest of the family why I walked out.

I am very over everyone giving me advice as I feel even those close to you do not always see the real you. I swear my mom still to this day looks at me as the lazy 13 year old and my Dad sees me as the 21 year old who still had a lot of growing up to do. AS for those who say they only do it because they love you, I am sorry but please look at me when you do this it does not take a rocket scientist to see I am almost in tears.

Angela I hate to say it as sounds so rude but I think you need to stand up to them and if it means hanging up on them so be it, you come first not their feelings.
That is rather rude of your mom! plus (looking at your profile) you are only 30 and that is not an old maid! I didn't live with my bf until i turned 30...we met 2 years prior but it was a long distance relationship for that time. It definitely took some adjusting to living with others...esp sharing a room/bed becuase it feels like youre never truly alone.

I just finished baking 18 banana zucchini chocolate chip muffins. I also made a pan of peanut marshmallow squares, it's somewhat hard to believe that I have never made them before. I need to wake LO soon and take him with me back to the Showcase, where dh is. We've agreed to buy him this cool remote control car that does tricks, etc. at the show for $40. It will be his main Christmas present. I already have a set of plastic bowling balls that I won for him, it will also be for Christmas. We aren't big spenders with many things and I have thought about the car since LO was introduced to it on Friday.

Yesterday BF took the boys and they went to his Ex's place - she and the boys loaded the back of the truck for a dump run. He figured using his truck was fair trade for a hair cut. While they were gone i pulled the peas, swiss chard and dead plants from the garden and plant pots. Took them in the wheel burrow to the compost heap.

I cleared the camp chairs and summer stuff off the deck into the camper and shed. Dug the carrots and the lilly bubls (bf wants to work up the front gardent but we want to keep the lillies to replant as well as get 2 bleeding hearts.)

After they got back bf and i winterized the camper and dumped the poop at the poop dump station. I finished working on a computer. BF thinks i dont charge enough however My opinion is I dont have overheard atm...and im still relatively new to town that im charging a lesser few so people are willing to try out my services (yes i have 12 yrs experience) and recommend me to others. I'm content with an extra 200 dollars a month or so on top of my regular pay.

I did some laundry, scooped the dog poop and threw some expired stuff out in the bathroom.

We went out in the evening to the pub - I was Designated driver so all my drinks were free. But we were out til 2 am so we slept in today to 11 (was nice) and have generally had a lazy day today. I did some bedding in the laundry and tidied the kitchen. Made my poor pup a cone head for a couple hours and am thinking of making some banana bread.

I also consildated some of my Medi honey from one leaky tube and a good tube to one tube total. SOOO easy to transfer as the squirt end fits nicely into the tube opening...you just heat the honey with warm water and it runs right into the other tube.

I've ordered a few more xmas gifts - 52 week savings challenge has nicely funded christmas again for a 2nd year. As they come over the next few weeks im going to start wrapping and tagging things because i can get to the chrsitmas bins now without snow. The PJS for christmas eve (my family tradition) were ordered yesterday from old navy.

We cut our cable to basic last month and they is nothing on so we are thinking of going cold turkey. I am not sure I am ready for that frugal leap
