Nancy my Step Mom used to joke that we had to have special events at our house because it meant at least one major project would be completed for the event (Railing on Back Deck, Walk Way re Done).

Good morning!
Had a fabulous evening yesterday with my two men, will do it again Sunday.
Yesterday, husband had a flat tire on the van in the morning - turns out it was wrecked from going through a pothole the day before. Drat that it was a fairly new tire, so we had to get a new one. Thank goodness, our son can get it through work - and he'll do the work Saturday so that saves us lots of money.
Hoping I'm okay enough to get through some long-waiting housework today, gah!
Enjoy the day, everyone!

Have a great time FBM, enjoy the getting along, not sure if it is just our family but I find when we go on vacation we all (well the kids) always find a way to get along and even do things together we would never do when home and could go in our own directions.

@Natalka I would contact the city or township about the damaged and replacement because of pothole, you can submit a claim who knows you may gets some funds back. Enjoy your day and take it easy, have a wonderful weekend.

Your SIL is very luck to have such generous family members.
I'm guessing that the older sibling is in a position to help her financially or just can't say no, however, like you mentioned perhaps she should be looking for a subsidized housing I know the wait lists are long however if you never put your name on the list it will never happen and she will never get ahead.
Baby Ashlyn & parents are lucky to have you.

sorry for my tardiness in replying to the Question of the day BUT in my defense I have been constantly going over the question and my financial mistakes over the years, there is no 1 thing that has been the worst with the exception of......drum roll
Not saying no when it should not have even been a consideration let alone a purchase, I know some may relate while others may feel it's not an answer, however, all those times we (dh & I) should have not have purchased something but did which quickly led to a line of credit out of control
. Many times I should have said no to dh but just didn't want to have him upset as we share our funds equally and to my defense with my illnesses having someone upset or pouting was not something I wanted to deal with our couldn't deal with
.
Here are a few other real examples of $ mistakes
1. not paying back my superannuation while on 5 years long term disability before being forced to retired which now leads to me being deducted $200 per month for the next 10 years vs. having paid it during the 5 years while off and it definitely was within the budget, pure stupidity where as now funds are much tighter (not being charged interest) but sheer stupidity again didn't want to take the time or couldn't with my illness take the time to fill out the stupid paper and mail them post dated cheques for a year at the time
2. when we renewed our mortgage 3.5 years ago we decided to take extra $20k out to pay off our bills, I really regret this decision as our house would now be paid off
3. Borrowing $10k from LOC to pay off the balance of boys cottage lot, which ended up creating worries and other shortfalls in our budget and no longer being able to put funds aside for other necessities vs. wants again
4. Insisting that my 1 year old SUV at the time be repaired vs. being written off and getting a new vehicle, the suv was never the same and was parked for 5 years and then sold as scrap metal last fall for $350.00 vs. a new vehicle
My biggest lesson in reflecting over the QOTD that I have come a long way and now speak my mind and voice my concerns and don't give in and certainly don't put myself in a situation where it's just not financially possible.....so I've learned a great deal personally & financially, some lessons cannot be taught or learned other than facing the realities which we have created and are accountable don't get me wrong granted somethings are out of our control as they say sh*t happens but mostly we are responsible for our choices some great and some not so great (not meaning to offend anyone by my opinions) BUT I have learned so much in the last 2 years especially within the last year in particular which has been acceptance of our situation.
Going forward I don't want to live my life looking back at all my mistakes yes I have learned so much but going forward being proud of what we have achieved with our new outlook and acceptance of our financial realities, I know we will never be rich but perhaps comfortable and that's A-OKAY
2019 is the year that we continue to save before we buy!!!
