Good morning, all!
Today is our Thanksgiving dinner at the kids' home...they're doing the fresh turkey and our DD's scrumptious smashed potatoes, I'm of course doing my dressing and a veg dish (steamed cauliflower and broccoli mixed in with shredded gouda, old cheddar and cream cheese, green onions,s&p, to ooey-gooey goodness), a salad and that's about it...nothing too fancy and nothing too much since we all seem to be watching our figures, although today a little caution is thrown to the wind.
A day of gaming, chatting and quite likely procecco and later wine will be involved.
Have a lovely day, everyone and HAPPY THANKSGIVING YOU YOU ALL!

Ahem....aw shucks.
This is how our meatloaf came out....DH and DS ate their servings sandwiched between 2 slices of sourdough bread, using knife and fork to tackle. I was not hungry enough for a full meal, so I only tasted a piece to check the flavour. @Lynn49 I'm still not totally sold on Dijon mustard but as long as the pure maple syrup was in there with it I was fine.
This afternoon I'll have my plate with some mashed spuds.
Oh! almost forgot to mention....that diced butternut squash mixed into the meatloaf was genius! I think that was what first attracted me to the recipe.

Beautiful! Yes, I can see how the mashed squash would work nicely in there. Our DD didn't try that dijon-honey tossed baked wee cut-up potatoes. She doesn't like sweets, so she hesitated. So I'll await your verdict. Or I'll make it soon...honestly, the entire cast of ctv's early morning show were raving.
Our dinner at the kids' this evening was wonderful, also. They sent us home with enough leftovers for dinner tomorrow, lol...seems she inherited my talent for making a lot more food than we'd ever need for one dinner.Last edited by Lynn49; Sat, Oct 9th, 2021 at 11:16 PM.

Thanksgiving will be celebrated later today with the kids, spouses and grandkids. DS (who is a red seal chef) is making braised cabbage. I have not tried it but I am sure it will be wonderful. DD is bringing the pumpkin pies and pumpkin cheesecake. I am doing the rest.

Happy Thanksgiving, everyone!
I had planned a big supper, like traditional Thanks things with two chickens subbing in for turkey, which both men don't like. However, husband failed to thaw said chickens and I didn't want to deal with microwave defrosting - so we had Vietnamese food - very yummy, a few things I couldn't eat, but got full anyway!
So Milan will come again tomorrow for a winner chicken dinner!
Nothing different with health status. Oh, I did get two new blisters on left lower le one burst, larger one still intact. Just hoping they heal quickly!
Take care, all of you!Last edited by Natalka; Tue, Oct 12th, 2021 at 06:00 AM.
