So....my cousin in Thunder Bay: first day of vacation in Cuba, fell, broke her wrist (not knows it's shattered), flew home...arm infected. Now she's in isolation, doctor doesn't recognize the type of infection/bacteria that caused it, so her surgery to fix her wrist is put off until they can get the infection under control.
I'm really concerned....what on earth could have caused such a mysterious infection that her doctor said he "doesn't recognize it"?? I don't have many details, I just emailed her and asked a dozen or so questions, poor kid.....I can't even imagine how scared she is right now......

Yikes @Lynn49 ! So did the infection cause the wrist to shatter so badly or vice versa? I presume that they are looking into tropical viruses, etc. That's very scary! Maybe an insect-born disease? First day, too. Does the airline know to keep an eye on other passengers? Maybe she caught the bacteria from someone on the plane or something on the plane.
I will send off healing thoughts and include you in my prayers.
Please keep us informed.
My woosieness is wearing off and I should really eat something. So I will get up in a minute.
My BrotherB and family have escorted their dog, Zeke-110 lb.of the sweetest, sheddingest thinks-he-is-a-lap dog off to stay with my sil's sister's family for at least a month. They found out at the last minute that the owners of the home they are renting until theirs is fixed did NOT want a dog included in the bargain! Good thing it is good driving weather today. The next few days won't be as good!
I will check in later and hope that all who are ill are healing.

@Lynn49 - how awful for your cousin. Sure hope it can be identified to treat it properly, then to undergo surgery... so much to deal with.
I had a great session with my nurse, since physio didn't come. I stood pretty strongly, especially after the first stand - which I often think of as the first pancake, since it rarely turns out well. My steps were pretty sure, and I was able to do back steps at a slant both left and right. Plus I did five steps forward - felt like I could have done more, but then I think, bummer, I have to get back to where I started.
Hope you all enjoy the evening. Here, the evenings are long, especially when I know I won't get visitors.
I was happy with it, especially since this was after 4:30 and I hadn't had pain killers since noon. She did give me my supper meds right after, though.

Thank you, @avoncallingu, and @Natalka...with so many of our gov't service people having been sent home with whateveritis, and only a handful left there, I'm wondering if this has anything to do with whatever they had? This gal works so hard under a boss that I tell ya, I'D never put up with without complaining, and finally she can take a short holiday and get some rest....and now to have this hit her? Avon, I'm wondering if maybe when her hand hit the ground perhaps she got scratched and something got into it?? Scary any way it happened!
Some things just aren't fair.....thank you for your concerns....
Edited to add: I just checked the symptoms of those diplomats and their families and none have anything to do with a skin problem...
Off to bed shortly, and I'm tired from being out today so I suspect I'll crash for the night.
Sweet dreams, everyone!

Good morning @GoJays . We are having more snow again even though I like the snow and cold I think we need a little break from Mother Nature.
Today my plan is to chase a few great deals for my DDs. Not sure if anyone here used facial wipes but SDM have a great deal for $5.00 or the QUO eye makeup wipes and there is a 5000 PCO Points on each. Makinfg them almost free.
@Lynn49 so sorry about your cousin hope the DR can figured what virus she picked up. Sending a prayers her way.
Hope everyone had a great weekend

Good sunny morning!!
Thank you @flemeth for your prayers; she's going to need them, she was just transferred to "isolation" because her doctors can't identify the infection she picked up in Cuba. I hope they either do some research mighty fast or transfer her to Winnipeg where she can get quality care. The more I hear about the doctors in ThunderBay and the Sault the more Ièm thankful to be here. (great. now my keyboard is speaking French, lol)
Nothing on the agenda today, so my DH moved my sewing machine into the diningroom where it is light and bright, I can put on a shmaltzy W-channel movie I have pvrd and do some sewing on that camp quilt.
Stay warm, stay well, everyone!!!

Good morning!
Oh that's such a sweet kitty!
Milan sent me a photo of Vader kitty, just so I know she is okay!
Not a busy morning, but will have physio at two to use this new-to-me Gizmo, a sit/stand trainer - I will explain more after I use it.
Take care, stay warm!
