Daffodils tips have poked through the soil in the front flowerbed. Crocuses are still "whatever" by the house. Back flowerbed, a few bright green curling leaves were found under the oak leaves that slept all winter over them. Ground is muddy in some places-the lawn is going to get some attention when it dries out some more.
Tomorrow-rain! Hoping for gentle one, not "washing cycle" strength rainfall.

well did the yard clean up on sunday....and by that I mean getting up the last of the frozen dog poop!!

but I noticed that my Daisies have started to sprout some green leaves...as well as a couple other plants that for the life of me I can't remember the name of!

I cleaned off all the leaves and other debris that had ended up in the garden to let the sunlight and air get in there.

I am moving May 1st, which means I have a few new gardens to look after, but I am definately uprooting my favourite plants and taking them with me to the new house for re-planting.

    this is the new place:

not shown are about 4 huge lilac trees in desperate need of pruning on the right side of the driveway. They're kind of wild & wooly right now. So anyone got some tips for me with these wild & wooly Lilacs? trim in the spring or in the fall?

The green stalks are not crocuses-they are what I call spider grass. Buddy crocus popped up two days ago with two flower buds (sneaky!). Will get a pic to post later today.

@Sunshine-congrats on your new place. I think some basic trimming of lilacs is needed if the shrub is in the way or about to impede something or someone. Major cutbacks-depends on situation: if no one is at risk, wait for fall when cooler temps prevail. But if the shrub is trouble/unruly-give it the mandatory cuts-though the blooms might be impacted.

thanks Ciel....i'll just trim back a bit where the branches stick out into the driveway, thus scratching the car.

They're pretty large and in charge if you get my drift....to me they look way over-run. but I'll save my pruning till the winter time.

A few things have begun to sprout in my flower garden out front but I am not sure what they are. I bought this house in October after all the plants had begun to die and this is my first year gardening. I think they're some type of flower though!

Buddy crocus>second false stalk alert. The flowers are Siberian Squill. Guess the crocuses are keeping warm in the earth or on vacation this year.
    Tiny purple lilacs spotted!

Mom's indoor orchid plant flowers (three) provided about 7 weeks of loveliness then they withered last week.
