What's blooming in your yard?

Grrr squirrels! Our big dog keeps most of them away. I hope they just got the leaves, they may grow back.

And in this neck of the woods it's mother nature one and me zero! Frost got my tomatos and my pepper plants I planted last week.

For patty, the third frost got me. At least im hoping that was the third one. Now my replacements arent going out for another week!

sadly no the whole thing is gone. they eat the plant then dig the roots out and plant their nuts. . im going to plant their nuts if i catch them.
guess were going tomorrow to see if we can start again with new ones. so disappointed.

Ive noticed a nice big bee in my yard today. Sadly only one so far, but he starving! Hes been on my flat of marigolds for at least 1/2 an hour! So if you have any flowers you can put out even for the day please do. They need something to eat and not many flowers are out yet.

I put turned over pots and plastic over some of the starter tomatoes, beans and squash tonight because I'm a nutty mama bear like that

I had not planted any tomatoes of cukes yet but the wicked wind did break a couple of my basil plants and I am not sure about one other annual that does not look happy. I made a new espalier trellis for my big beef tomatoes I will post a pic. soon. I am hoping this will support the weight of them because last year the stakes all fell over.

We have trilliums, tulips, daffodils and grape hyacinths blooming.

We have been eating my third-year asparagus (grown from seed) for about 2 weeks now. Mustard greens, spinach, chard, leeks, peas and carrot seedlings look to be doing well. Today I seeded chufas, basil and a bunch of different flowers.

I got all three vegetable patches planted yesterday. I plant about 15 types of vegetables each year in our back yard. This year I am trying a few new things. I planted yellow tomatoes for the first time because they are supposed to be less acidic and it should help with my heartburn. I also decided to add some watermellon plants to my vining patch. I rearranged where I planted some things and I will see if they grow better in their new locations. I knew that there was supposed to be a lot of rain last night, so I made sure to get it all in the ground and I didn't have to water it...mother nature did that for me.

Dh is going to install a rain barrel beside our shed, which is next to one of the garden patches. He wants to hook a hose up to the bottom of it for me to water without having to use a watering can. I'm not sure about the water pressure, but we'll just have to wait and see. Dh is getting the water barrel and stand for free, so it is certainly worth trying. The location of the water barrel is also away from LO, so it should be safe.

We love the yellow tomatoes! I planted them again this year. I got quite a large crop from just 6 plants.

-patty your garden looks wonderfull

-well I planted cherry tomatoes for first time , and reg tomatoes -I like to plant 2 tomato plants the last few years
-well trying to get my front filled in have 4 nice bushes (that flower at different times-one is a rose of Sharon)and a few hostas(my sister-in-law showed me how to seperate them last night(now have 3 extra hostas plants ) plus a few hens/chicks(is that what they are called) well i am learning as I go along
