Had leftover Chinese food tonight (wish there had been more!), husband also had a huge bowl of tomato veg noodle soup.

Funny, just after supper, my son called and asked how to cook gizzards.

    Uh, I asked why.

He said he bought some and wants to know what to do with them.

    Why did you buy them?

Because they were on at Co-op for two dollars. Only two dollars!

Do you know what they are?

They are like chewy chicken livers, aren't they? (which he loves)
(I would occasionally mix in some gizzards and hearts when I would cook chicken livers, but never served them alone.)

So can I just dump them frozen in a pan and fry them?

Well, no.... so I explained that they needed to be thawed and how to cook them up - which he said he'd do later in the week, and would have shrimp for supper today instead.

(Note, I do not eat any of the above - I would cook them because my husband loves chicken livers especially, and sometimes hearts and gizzards, and our son loved them right from when he was little. I used to have to pretend that I had already eaten, or was eating up leftovers, so Milan wouldn't catch on that I wasn't eating them...)

Glad that he's such an adventurous eater - and, now, cook!

Tonight we're back to spaghetti and meatballs, I have some garlic bread we need to use up, not to mention the many jars of spaghetti sauce i got at No Frills a couple weeks ago.

Otherwise, I have some boneless chicken breasts in my fridge (rare, since i nearly always buy bone-in thighs these days, but they were on sale!). And while deciding what to do with them, I came across a Clubhouse seasoning thing with about six different little measurements of seasonings for Chili Lime Fajitas. I also have several peppers, so I stopped for a couple limes at lunch and will season them when I get home, then cook those for tomorrow. We're supposed to be getting a major blizzard tomorrow, so better to have stuff cooked today!

    Pork is in the slowcooker!

Last of the pork button bone strip thingees, making two packages.... have been avoiding using them - not that they aren't tasty, but they are too thin and a pain in the arse to eat - but I can make them yummy!

Using a pouch of Clubhouse bbq pork slowcooker stuff, but didn't have ketchup so I added a can of tomatoes all smooshed up, along with brown sugar.
Nice smokey smell from the seasoning after cooking for a while!

Will make mashed potatoes and a giant Caesar salad to go with.

Taco Tuesday! Have some fresh corn tortillas that I grabbed from a local tortilla factory last week. After having these I will NEVER go back to eaing old El Paso over processed/expensive, and often stale hard taco shells. 36, 6 inch tortillas for $3.60, that makes 6 dinners for me and hubby, we have tacos every week. If I ask hubby what he wants for dinner, 9 times out of 10 he will say tacos.

Neither one of us was hungry tonight for dinner so it was ``make whatever you feel like eating`` night. I just had some cottage cheese with a slice of melon, some green grapes and a nice camomile tea. Hubby had 2 PB&J sandwichs and a banana.

That sounds great! I started making my own taco seasoning awhile back with this recipe: http://skinnyms.com/skinny-ms-taco-seasoning/

Not that there's anything wrong with packaged seasoning, I'm just trying to rely less on prepackaged stuff and make my own, know what's in it. This one has no salt. I also have started doing black beans from dried ones in my crockpot.

But on the other hand, I used that Clubhouse recipe packet for chili lime fajitas last time. The recipe is on a card that is with the packets of seasonings so you can do it again yourself. It was pretty good, I think I will do it again (we haven't eaten it yet, but I did feel obligated to sample the chicken. ).

Last night ended up being Nachos as what mom had planned on making was not done yet (not quite sure what this was as when I asked her to explain she ignored me, hmmmmmmmmmmmmmm). SO not sure if we will have this roast/stew things she was making tonight or tomorrow yet. I would love to go out and get a few groceries tonight but only if it warms up, my car was very angry with the -34 when I started it this morning to come to work.
