I FINALLY dug our potatoes yesterday. We got about 100lbs from the garden.

Both boys are home tonight (yay)! I admit to hanging up on their mom twice today and telling one of the boys to talk to her outside because she wasnt welcome inside. Bf ended up deleting her from Facebook and blocking her. It seems that everything lately results in feeling attacked verbally or text or email by her no matter what it is.

Tomorrow is thanksgiving with the guys n their families from work. The boys are cool with it so ive made lemon meringue pie to take. Got dinner buns n we are taking turnip.

Medically...i have an ultrasound next month because i wanted my iud out...and they lost it. Then ill have to have surgery (not happy) to have it retrieved...i will NOT be get one again. Hoping bfs work covers the travel...my work will but we have to pay and submit with mine whereas his pays it.

Saundyl, my daughter is in the same boat with her IUD, she has to have it surgically removed as well. It makes it very difficult as she can't take birth control due to a clotting disorder and she could develop DVT's if she uses them.
Well just some housework and light prep for Thanksgiving tomorrow, with all the allergies I have had to try a lot of new recipes and substitutions but I think everything is tasting great. Just going to make the filling for the pumpkin pie and get them in the oven. Still deciding if I am serving buffet style or have everyone squeeze around the dining room table. Sixteen people is a bit of a squeeze but I love sitting down all together rather than people perched all over the house....will ask my husband for his input when he gets home from hunting.
So excited for the Jays came today so it is my motivation to be completely organized before it starts, my husband called last night and told me not to cook supper as he wants to order pizza for supper, something we do very rarely so I am excited about not cooking tonight after my cooking maraton for tomorrows feast!!
    Enjoy your day everyone!!

    Good Morning Everyone,
Yesterday was my first official day of vacation although I knew I was on call well the branches were open. I am always the first one they call especially on a weekend, good news no calls.

I am now on vacation this week although I will still have to stay on top of work as there are a few parts of my job no one else cal do so I will monitor these areas even well I am off.

I did not get much done yesterday, I was lacking ambition. I packed up the froze some soups we had in the freezer and loaded the dishwasher, that was about it.

Won't get much done either as we will head out in a little while to meet my bro for a late lunch early dinner at the new Burger Place. They seem to be re doing old Main Street and a lot of new restaurants are moving in, so far they all have good reviews only down side is they are on the smaller side so they are hard to get into. To make sure we do not have an issue today I did make a reservation as we did try to go to this restaurant once before and it had a huge wait.

Thinking I might go to the local Chinese market to grab a few ingredients for some new dishes I want to try. As well as meal planning I also want to start making 2 new dishes each week to add more variety to our meal plans. We have already tried a few, I am currently obsessed with one pot meals or wonder pots, a few little tweaks might be needed but we have already found a few new keeper recipes.

Happy Thanksgiving Everyone, Have a wonderful day.

I hung laundry out again today, fingers crossed they dry. Almost everything dried on the line yesterday. A few towels needed a bit in the dryer but I am determined to keep the costs down so doing all we can. We have a frost warning tonight. I still have peppers and tomatoes. But most are not ready to pick so I took what I could and we will home for the best. I have been working my way though clothes as I have lost although the not looking to find 25 pounds this year. Thankfully I had saved some dress pants from 5 years ago when I gained the weight. Happy turkey day for those celebrating today, we are celebrating Monday as the older teen worked both Saturday and Sunday.

I find the idea of surgery very scary because i don't heal very fast..its
I truly regret it despite all my questions and caution before going thru with getting it.

I think even the extra cost because I'll have to fly to yellowknife and bf has to be a medical escort...hotel etc....even though its eventually covered..
    Bothers me.

The last month or so its truly felt like financially karma wants to stomp on our budget.

Things like school trips with very short notice notification (we will kniw for next year) costing 500...then sports that ate coming up for 150 per trip plus meaks (with) 2 this month for volleyball. Youngest however has been told since hes refusing tosell the raffle tickets which would offset the cost. ...hes not going.

Larger power bill because i oops n psid the phone bill a 2nd time last month insteadof the power bill. We still havent been billed fir our oldest's collect calls in august.

I have a work trip i need to pay for beforei get reimbursed for which is around 800 dollars....and manadtory to go to.

    Car registration this month.
Costco renewal. And we had ordered those beds for pickup in gp at theend of the month in august thinking we would be okay for the 8 hour trip each way ..im worried we wont be. Bf brushesoff my worries.

Sept and October have already turned out to be incredibly expensive **sad face**

Giseledta, I completely understand the slow and steady part of renovating. i started the end of April, ripped out all the flooring myself and hauled it all away, I painted our whole house and it isn't small, all the closets were organized and painted as well, my son in law and I installed miles of new door and window trim and baseboards and i painted all of those.....I am exhausted. I did splurge on custom blinds because we have a lot of south facing windows and our house is hot in the summer but now it is time for curtains and I am still deciding on my colours, we purchased a new couch and love seat last week, we purchased the floor model, which was half price and then another 40% off the sale price and it is the exact colour and style we wanted so that will be my jumping off point for decorating. It is exciting to be making progress but not exciting to see the bank account dip, we are within our budget so at least there's that!!
Saundyl, good luck on the surgery, it seems like a lot of money and time put out for a needed procedure, I wish there was some sort of assistance for travel for you especially when it isn't an elective surgery.

Saundyl: I think we have all been there and it sucks. The months where it's 1 step forward and 3 backwards are tough. Hopefully it ends soon.
I went to Costco today as I am in charge of dessert and the chocolate tuxedo cake is a family favorite. They had the led bulbs on with the 8.00 save on energy coupon and the had some odd styles to fit our fixtures. I found a dimmable one that I am hoping works in the dining room fixture. I also had some great PC PLUS offers including 200 points for every 1.00 spent on lantancia butter. Superstore limits pm to 4 so I dropped the teen to work and headed to Fortinos for 8 pounds of butter as they had it on sale for 2.88.

@Angela _273 -if Swiss chard is lingering in your crisper, you might wish to look at this Cdn Living recipe that you and DH might like to try: http://www.canadianliving.com/food/r...rizzled-onions
I was looking at another CL recipe from Twitter and saw the other recipes in the sidebar.
@sweet sparrow - I go to Food Basics or Fortinos for ginger, garlic or whatever veggie need I have. I always check the reduced produce section-sometimes I want something specific but I see trays of things I don't need. Walmart is not so extensive in terms of specific vegetables though I certainly won't turn down a $1 produce bag if I can use it!

BTW, one of the guys at home bought aluminum pans for use on the BBQ two years ago. Said pans have not been in use at all. If I recycle them, woe will yell at me. When Mom mentioned turkey and cranberry sauce for Thanksgiving, I requested she consider tacos (cheaper and money's been kind of tight recently).
@Andit -you've added another creature to your family! Murray obviously knows when it's feeding time-he sees the other two and starts looking for you. Good to see you posting now and then. Really happy you are finding some joy in discovering clothing treasures in your Mom's house. Sorry to hear about your friend's rental trouble. Think many condo owners (did you see the October Toronto Life cover story) need to be in a renter's shoes for a day or two to get things sorted out at their places.

Last Wednesday, I acquired the hiking look winter boots on for $99.95 in a medium blue tone called ocean-good change from dark colours as my last pair of winter boots was black (granny heel style) 11 years ago. Have to polish and spray new boots next week. Current shoes are wearing out and I want to make the most of October with them. Not certain how far I'll be able to walk with the boots-the toes will get stuffed with dressy socks to fill in the extra space.

Will see if Rexall has the bathroom tissue on for $2.99 in stock if that stock is not sold out. Our Costco supply of tissue (boxes or bathroom) has not been restocked in the past month and I rather like seeing the floor space than a club pack.

Grateful I've caught up on the October frugal thread as I have a few pages of Sept. to get through still.
2021-Bring on the sunshine, sweets & online shopping.
