Husband told me before he left for work this morning that he would bring home supper for my birthday.
Well, yum!
From my favourite Greek restaurant he got me (and our son) the schnitzel, spaetzle, and sauerkraut combo (usually also comes with a delish sausage, but they had none left so they gave an extra piece of schnitzel). Husband had boneless ribs.
Then, even though I didn't have room, just had to have dessert after I blew out the birthday candle - it was a chocolate pecan torte - which doesn't quite describe it, it was more like a giant tart - chocolate crust, filling similar to pecan pie/butter tarts but thicker and not sickly sweet, lots of pecans and lots of dark chocolate drizzled on top.Last edited by Natalka; Mon, Jan 27th, 2014 at 10:40 PM.

That sounds delicious!
My birthday is next week, but we haven't made any plans yet. We haven't gone out on a date together since December. I'm thinking about lining up a babysitter and having a nice evening out with hubby, even though my birthday is technically on a Wednesday this year.Help me out with Swagbucks and we can both earn gift cards and PayPal money

Angela, that would be nice to get out! We haven't had a date night in - well, our son is just over 22, so that's how long it's been, lol! We just took him everywhere with us!

Last night was Oktoberfest with roasted potatoes and carrots.
Tonight, no idea yet did not take anything out before I came to work so we will have to see what mom does.2022 is going to be my year, the year I find organization in my life and the year I focus on myself,

Tonight I'm making pork meatballs, with homemade tomato sauce from the freezer - I've been saving it til our son is over, it's a fave of his (and ours!). Will serve with some sort of long pasta (not sure if I have spaghetti, so it may be linguini), and garlic toast.
Third night in a row to have son over - yippee, mama's happy!

I find that kind of sweet chili sauce tends to go better with chicken/fish, as is doesn't stand up to the stronger beef flavors. I like to grate cucumber into it and toss in chicken wings, or doing breaded chicken finger wraps with diced cucumbers, and a drizzle of the sauce. Glaze on baked fish. Works well as a dripping sauce for corn fritters too.

Last night was Beef Stroganoff (sp??) over Egg Noddles, nice warm comforting dish as I am pretty sure if you live in Ontario winter is NEVER ending (or maybe it is just me who feels like this).

Ash - you're right..feels like winter is NEVER going to end! Last night's supper was left over homemade soup with goldfish crackers. Tonight will probably be some type of pizza or pasta (leftover tomato sauce to use up).
