CRAP!! I totally missed the post about you snuggling your new niece!! Congrats " Auntie Ashley!! "

lol!! I just love the way you " beat yourself up " . We always do anything for others and yet hesitate when we make a special ( maybe costlier ) food treat for just US!
Take today for instance. Here I am making a batch of 36 Beef empanadas that will get filled and frozen. Ready to bake when we take them to take over to DH's family.
Never crosses my mind to make these JUST for us....ha ha I so enjoy all your great posts Sass!! Keep doing you!!

I hope you do NOT get that awful 60+ questions on the " long form " Census.
This is all new for this year's Census. I don't think I am going to be the only one
pissed off by what they ask.

sniff, sniff, we just never recover from one vehicle bill to the next! DH's wages literally get drained into keeping this vehicle alive.
BUT, as we both know, buying a new one is out of the question. This time I will be splitting the bill onto 2 CC's....that is how high
the estimate was. Pity party over....lol.

Congrats on getting the " hallway " groceries and other stuff put away. I do know the feeling of dropping non perishables ( the entire bag! )
on the floor in the storeroom. Just too exhausted to empty it after I hit 3-4 stores. Now of course I have to wait for DH to take me shopping.
Btw, I was JUST talking about that Taylor Swift song ( " I'm the problem ... " ) I loved the video of it. Many of us are our own worst enemy! ha ha

is a GT close to you? If so they have trays of 6 baby cuc's on sale for $1.88. Meanwhile NF is now charging $2.99 for them.
The GT I went to today had none but I'm going to go tomorrow to the other one out Pickering way.

I found your gas pump post comforting. I absolutely agree about keeping the tank at least 1/2 full. I JUST checked my AM and they already gave me the 40 AM for the 3 x $30.00 fill ups I did, so the next one I do will earn me another 40 AM! Maybe I'll miss Shell switching to Scene rewards as I'll have nowhere else to earn AM.
The other thing I loved is they deposit the AM in your account on the same day you pump the gas, even though it never shows on the gas receipt.

lol!!! Ash, you liked my post as I was still editing it for awful typos and spelling! ha ha

I loved reading about the cats you had over the years. Isn't is crazy that the ones that lived the longest were not really expected to?
Gosh I just hope cath gets a very healthy one.

I have it on good authority that nachos and Apple dumplings ARE basics...ha ha. That's according to DH.....which is another reason I leave him at home while shopping.
You got many things done n Sunday I spent time fiddling with outside Christmas lights and decor. My poor fingers were so cold!

we both bought some of the same sale items this morning! Ya cannot pass up 10 lb. spuds for $1.44 ! lol.
GT had no butter ( $4.44) so I paid the $4.88 at FB. Good thing I double checked my receipt at NF as they
never gave me the 2,000 points for each case of the Kraft dinner I bought!! The cashier droned on about it
being and APP exclusive deal BUT I keep telling them that for Dinosaur customers like me who do not own a
cellphone MY offers get automatically loaded to my card.
I checked my computer before I left the house and that was loaded as one of my offers. She eventually put
4,000 points back on my card. I said " ya know the only reason I bought these was for donation, so it kind of
sucked that the points weren't there. Shopping done for anther week!

Sassy, I hope Friday is YOUR best day! You need one to be a winner! Then on the weekend you can get some R & R.
I just LOVE rescuing perfectly fresh produce from a rack! Some stores are NUTS! The stuff is rotted and they think someone will buy it??
I spoke to the cauliflower today saying it will be part of the best recipe yet.
My dad abhorred wasting food and so do I. I also grabbed another $2.00 bag from Metro with 3 green peppers and 1 yellow pepper.
So that will use up almost ALL of DH's leftover meat mixture when I make stuffed peppers.
    TGIF!!

gosh darn it Sassy, finding a reputable therapist sounds like a bloody scavenger hunt. Hope something turns up.
Family drama still not allowing you space to find your calm centre? Curse them all...sorry. I feel your pain as
another darn Monday has turned up....so working again. Take care

tee hee...I'm WAY TOO invested in what is happening to The Toronto Blue Jays.
So, to distract myself, I went through the fridge. ( we're talking at 6 a.m. cuz I'm always up early )
Cut into florets and flash-blanched an .88 cent head of broccoli, plus half a giant cauliflower.
Found the 2nd bag of green beans (bought for Thanksgiving ) We only used 1 of them, so blanched them too.
Boiled up 4 beets from under the sink. Peeled, sliced and boiled up 6 large carrots.
THEN....lol....I made a fairly large batch of spaghetti and meatballs for the guys.
The thing is my guys are horrible for grabbing fast food on a weekend. No excuses now, many options
right there in the fridge. I bagged and froze most of the veggies, leaving one large bowl in the fridge for
them to round out their healthy plates! ha ha

hi! Ya know 2 times I was like that. Did NOT want to make ANY Thanksgiving dinner, my body pains were the reason, I was in no mood for company.
Trouble is my DH is a HUGE fan of having as many people come over as possible saying "your son and I will help you with all the work! ". UGH!!
One time I agreed to going out to a restaurant instead ( also to avoid having to deep clean the house! ) .
Why can't family members understand there are times we need a break from these official holidays? Even though it's better for me since I retired, I sure
sympathize how your plan to completely rest over the 3 days was changed.

tariffs on or off mean nothing right? They will never lower the prices of groceries because as you said " we're already paying more so....." What a racket!

Happy Hump Day! Ikwym about shopping when you're hungry. I finally learned NOT to do that. Today I actually considered loading my cart up
with many boxes of Chapman Ice Cream Novelties from GT. A sale price made it extra tempting but then reality hit me. All 3 of us have been
inhaling similar frozen treats from the freezers over the summer and the last thing any of us need is extra calories.....lol.

good morning! DH and DS listened to me relate that whole NF PC Blue menu burger story and they were so proud that I caught the pricing error.
More like a scam error if you ask me.

When I read about you're latest batch of the blueberry muffins it reminded me that I had 2 full pints to get busy using.
So late last night ( actually at 1 in the a.m. ) I made 12 mango/blueberry muffins with a coconut streusel topping.
New recipe and this is a keeper! The guys said they were super moist! I still have mangoes to use up too.

I really admire your budgeting skills. So wonderful when big ticket items don't send us spiraling! For us it's the aging vehicle, can't afford a new one, hate spending $$ all the time on maintaining the old jalopy...lol.

hooray for being the first stop on delivery for your new washer and dryer!!

lol! I love you and the way your mind thinks of something else that needs to be cleaned AS you are currently cleaning something.
I agree, it could be cleaning OCD ....but whatever it is every now and then I get like that with cooking! Right in the middle of making
one entree or recipe and my mind wanders to something else I SHOULD suddenly make. Enjoy your day!

lol! one item on your list and it's always the one we come home without.....I've also done that. Enjoy Sunday!!

thank you!! Kindred spirit! lol DH sleeps most of Saturday ( shift worker ), which allows me all these hours to fret and second guess everything,
including when to go out to grab something from the store. Staying sane 1 hour at a time.

happy Thursday! We're pretty lucky that WM is a 5 min. drive away! I'm sure the cat's were wondering why I left the house before feeding them but I was back just as quick. Got my tuna and my points.

ty about my 2 different Shepherd's pies. So funny though, I miscalculated the amount of mashed spuds I would need to top the meat mixture for the small roast pan one.
I emptied the contents on the meat and when it was all cooked the meat to spud ratio was hilarious. DS said " oh no, don't apologize I love that much mashed potato on top "
Your potato soup would be a go-to for me, such comfort food eh? This darn no white carb diet I'm on is a PITA. ha ha

I always use the boxes white cake mixes for pineapple upside down cake, they are so easy to make using a mix and come out so good! Enjoy yours!

yes, us too! We know of many families that just said screw all the work of a turkey feast at home and went out instead. Sure, chicken does not sub out perfectly for turkey in many people's eyes but the leftovers from roasting a big bird at home can sometimes feel like you're eating turkey " something " all week. Soup, hot sammies, stew.
Plus the conversations at the table were so enjoyable as none of us were running around screaming " we forgot the cranberry sauce! " lol.

just moseying about and read through the way you shop. I do the same when things are NOT on sale, I pass on them and wait for that great sale price to come around again. The baby cucumbers here are usually on sale somewhere ( NF, Freshco or WM ) but the stores often say " our trucks haven't come in yet " . Well I don't come back...lol. I'm still amazed at our spud prices compared to what my sis pays out West. The 10 lb. bag a couple weeks ago was .99 and now the pure white new spuds are only $1.77 for 10 lbs. They pay around $6.00 - $7.00 for 10 lbs. Crazy.
