Had one of those donair kits from walmart again. I'm sure you can fins them other places though not just walmart lol. There are no donair places around here and these kits are actually pretty tasty for $6.99 makes 4 donairs. It had donair meat, 4 pitas and sauce and you add whatever else you want to it. I added chopped tomatoes and grated carrots.

DH decided he wanted soup........it has to be homemade though, so dug out a frozen turkey breast and searched for suitable veg to accompany the pot. Mmmmm it is just simmering nicely now, we should be eating at around 10:30 or so......lol!!!

^ should have done what I did - I wanted soup, so chicken noodle from packages (Mama brand, never tried before, not bad - didn't use the chili packets, though).
Then I had two cinnamon doughnuts, and a cucumber sandwich.
Husband had a huge salami and cheese sandwich, leftover chicken pieces and hashbrowns.

Due to popular demand.
Quinoa/Kale Patties
10 to 12 patties
1/2 cup finely chopped onion
1 cup finely choppe kale
3 cloves minced garlic
1 tbsp olive oil
2 cups cooked quinoa
3 eggs, whisked
1/2 cup grated Parmesan
2/3 cup breadcrumbs
1/2 tsp sea salt
Pepper to taste
2-3 tsp. olive oil - remaining amount
Chop onion, kale (discarding tough stems), and garlic. Saute in 1 tbsp olive oil over medium heat until soft.
In a bowl, mix quinoa, eggs, cheese, bread crumbs, salt and pepper with saute vegetables. Mix well and let stand for 5 minutes.
Heat remaining oil. I find a cast iron pan works best. Form patties with wet hands to preventing sticking. Cook over medium heat until browned on both sides.
I vary it by sometimes adding feta or fresh mint.

Walkonby sound like when we had thanksgiving dinner at like 9.30pm because someone somehow turned the oven down and no one noticed. We started with 30 people for dinner and by the time we ate we were down to about 9 people lol.

Hurray! I was hoping you would post it!!! Thank you!!
Tonight we are going to East Side Marios as a treat. It's kids eat free night AND we have a gift card DH got for his birthday.
I already know I'm gonna have the sausage and pepper penne. Mmmmmm. Can't wait!!!! The fact that it will practically be a free meal makes it feel even tastier already!!!"Be yourself. Everyone else is already taken." Oscar Widle

I'm making a pot roast today. The weather is so odd & I think that Mother Nature is playing tricks on us.
A special thank you to French Lady for sharing her Quinoa/Kale Patties with us. I am looking forward to trying them.
MY dh loves potroast with a side order of Yorkshire Pudding. If he gets some of the things he has been promising to do done, I will surprise him with some Yorkies.

just made a quick taco salad since I just cooked the meat for the freezer for future quick taco nights for the kids. Used up the last of the romaine that was going to hit the garbage if not used today. Was good! Hit the spot

well, what a great freakin' weekend!!!
Friday evening I went to a "fish fry" to celebrate the end of the cod food fishery...it was all cooked outside (all deep-fried) fresh cod, calamari, fries, onion rings, poutine available, wings, salads of every kind ++..the list goes on and everything delicious...bonfire on the beach after..more food.
..and yesterday evening I went to a 60th anniversary party..it was so sweet & special, lots of people..they had a steak supper, prime rib (my fav.) baked potato, mushrooms & onions, fresh rolls, cheesecake for dessert (my second fav.) (...pssst and lets not mention the flow of wine)..and there was a dance after with an amazing band..the dance floor was packed the entire night
..and tonight, siblings from the family above had a big party, turkey dinner..OMG, the food was endless...and so good...Last edited by KelJo; Sun, Aug 17th, 2014 at 09:51 PM.
