I was lucky enough to have Mary Brown's yesterday...it was sooo good, I had the Big Mary with taters....not sure what to have this evening. Picked up some awesome steaks at Sobey's yesterday, would like to have a bbq but we have a storm with high winds starting this afternoon so that's not going to happen..maybe I'll sear steaks on the stove and finish under the broiler..also have some junior spuds, all mixed little potatoes, white, yellow, red purple that would be great to roast as well with some olive oil, S&P and rosemary..sounds like a plan (and if we lose the power I can always finish cooking on the wood stove )

Lasagna. I would have loved some garlic bread, but didn't care to make it with sliced bread

Took advantage of sale at No Frills on their side ribs. Peeled the membrane off back, sprinkled with balsamic vinegar and spices. Wrapped in foil and slow cooked for 1 1/2 hour in oven. Took them out to rest while i bumped up the oven to broil. When heated, I basted ribs with BBQ sauce and broiled for aprox 8-10 min.
Tender and tasty. Served with salad. Hubby is a critical rib eater and thought they were awesome.

Indian cutlets with a roasted beet salad served over mixed greens topped with apple wedges, feta cheese and toasted almond slivers. I made a light dressing with balsamic, EVOO , orange zest and the juice from it and fresh grated garlic. It was so light and flavourful.

Today is Mom's bday but she is working so last night we took to a local Japanese Restaurant that has become a family fav.

Tonight since it is her actual birthday we are having Chinese which she will pick up on her way home since it is on her way and I will be home over an hour before her.

Last night was sheppards pie but I made it with half lean ground angus and half lean ground turkey to cut calories. I also layer it like a lasagna, mash, meat, veggies then mash again and sprinkled with asiago cheese. Was delicious!

Tonight will be honey ginger chicken and broccoli over rice.

I suppose what I just put in the oven was a stew: cubed pork loin, onions, potatoes, mushrooms, celery, peas, carrots, kernel corn, can of crushed tomatoes - then I'll see what I need to add in terms of a gravy or not. Also made coleslaw to use up mix.

I'm told it's going to be Spaghetti and meat balls with an Italian loaf.

Supper tonight was sweet n' sour chicken (a recipe that we love) and Mongolian chicken (new recipe) served with rice. Needless to say there is a small serving (1/2 cup) left of both dishes....so I think supper was a hit.

Last night (Wednesday's) supper was peameal bacon, Tuesday was homemade pogos with veggies and dip.
