Good morning!!! Quite the change from yesterday's summery day, it's drizzly and dull out there, but we have no where we have to be, so that's fine. At least we're not in the path of hurricane Michael; if it hits the panhandle as a cat 4 it's going to be such a horrible event for the folks there, esp the guys "riding it out" in their boats, if you can believe that! I just pray that no lives will be lost.

Well, @danger_dan, since Avon and I seem to share one brain sometimes, she posted exactly what I was going to suggest. You and your wife are a new family with a new addition, little Cooper, and this is the time that YOUR new traditions can be developed and I'm so happy to hear that you're both on the same page, doing just that. It's a wonder how holidays can bring out the best and the worst in people, and in particular, people who feel their opinions matter when it's the "couple" that are the team. Stay strong, Dan....you're a good man, but even a good man isn't good enough for some parents' daughters and that's a sad fact. It's time you dedicate your holidays to each other (and Cooper!), celebrate your relationship, honour each other and not the past. Invite close friends for Christmas dinner or Christmas eve IF that's what makes you two happy and, if you want to tentatively invite the in-laws (out-laws?) to that dinner, fine, because they probably won't show up anyway, but they've been invited so they can't say they've been excluded.

You two are certainly NOT being selfish! When and if you have wee ones who are not furry, those family traditions will become even more important, and new rules will have to be established...you can't ride the waves and currents that others send your way; you have to create your own calm oasis. Okay? {{{hugs!}}}

@Natalka, yes, I'm feeling better each day thank goodness! Is your doc visiting today to remove those stitches? It's going to be such a relief when they're out. Do you have a vitamin E gel to use on that area...omgoodness I must have popped a hundred capsules I had here each time staples were removed, to slather on the incisions...lol!!! Thank you all for your offers of wishes and prayers, and like Dan posted, it's just so much worse when a young person has to deal with cancer when life is still so exciting and new for them. I know he'll get through this, but what an ordeal he'll be facing.

Where's @cabmonk? I was so anxious to hear how his family reacted to his weight-loss over the weekend!

Lynn, the doc will come in just over an hour. Had no idea about the vitamin e, what does it do? My son finds the location where he had leg surgery really irritating him, wonder if that would help him?

Vitamin E helps with elasticity the skin, making scaring/stretch marks hurt less as you move about.

Dr. Nellie just left, I am so glad it was her.
Nine staples taken out relatively painlessly, two were just a bit stubborn. She said it has healed well, only one small area opened up.

Heartrate is 74, oxygen 99 - the latter had gone down in mid 80s when I was in the hospital and I had to be on oxygen til my last day there.
Drat, she didn't take my BP - that had been high before I came home.

She will redo the requisition the cardiologist gave for blood work, so it can be done by the mobile lab.
She said she def noticed the difference in how much better I looked, let alone how much happier I seem. Still and all, she wants me to take things slowly.

Now I can get on with the rest of the day. Going to heat up some leftovers for lunch, then get my feet up for a while. A care aide is coming mid afternoon.

Hi, Nat....Dan is quite right...it maintains the "flexibility" of the tissues on the scar and it heals so nicely. I just had vit E capsules here that I popped open with a pin and slathered on, and DH also bought me Vit E gel which worked nicely, too. I imagine that it might help Milan since what he might be experiencing is the dryness that seems to come from incisions when they heal. Must have something to do with the circulation of oils, etc not reaching some areas, iykwim? I'd certainly try that if his problem is itching, or even vaseline.

Is his incision site painful or itchy? If it's pain it could last a while if it feels like stabbing sort of electric shocks...those are the nerve endings trying to find each other, in a manner of speaking, which had been severed. Neuralgic pain is common after such surgeries, I've had and continue to have mine after 4 years...they'll not likely go away, it's been so abused by so many surgeries on the same site. Should have installed a zipper...same cut 4 times!

Hope the Vit E helps...just buy the least expensive capsules or gel (not the creams). Good luck!

He knows that he will be stuck with the nerve pain, but making that long scar feel better will at least give him some relief. He has the option of getting the hardware out, but I don't think he will.

It still hurts me in the gut when I see his leg...

I hope it helps him, Nat. I knew from the beginning that I wanted those 9 screws and metal plate out although it was just a gut instinct. The 2 screws that had to be removed early on because they were punching into my knee joint confirmed that decision, also. He might also try Gold Bond anti itch cream, and if he still has a problem he can go to a clinic for better stuff. My DH had a problem on his chest after his mechanical heart valve was put in and whatever he has works wonders...still does when it flares up.

Right here @Lynn49 lol. Everything went well and people said I looked good. I did have some cheese which is Definitely not vegan lol. However for thankThanksg dinner I only ate mashed potatoes, corn and stuffing. Everyone was happy with my progress. The next day my aunt even texted to say again how good I looked.

Morning, folks! Lazing it a bit today. Got my new orthotics. WOW! Do they make me walk differently!

Supposed to break them in one hour more each day. New muscles being stretched.

I may try to take my neighbor out to lunch. A huge meeting last night about funding the repairs of the roof. Apparently, at one point, it got quite heated and people were yelling! It's over $15,000 that each unit owner has to fork up. I'm SO GLAD that I am renting!
