You know I must be way ahead of my time because I found a cookbook in my drawer that I swear I bought when my kids were tots ( 20 yrs ago maybe ? ) and the title was Salt, Sugar, Fat and it was a " how to " on eliminating these 3 deadly things, or at least reducing them when you cook.
Most people are unaware how much in excess these things are put into all our processed foods, I shudder when I see what is in some grocery carts when I shop, but I would never preach to anyone at a store. For us it was our health that became impacted by our bad choices, not everyone gets that wake up call, of course I am lol right now at myself because I just ate my DD's LAST frozen banana/choc dipped treat today!! I must make her more before she notices!

don't sell yourself short there, even what you are doing now is great! ( NOT adding salt when you cook or bake makes a huge difference ) If a few more people would put pressure on manufacturers by just NOT buying these products ( the canned soups nutritional label makes me want to heave when I look at how much salt they add ) then eventually they might lose $$ and fix their formulas. The food industry knows so many customers are already addicted and that they need more and more to get the same taste satisfaction, so they are laughing all the way to the bank at us. My kids know this but they are weak when I am not around, they will eat fast food and hide the wrappers!! lol!!

Yeah, I have eliminated sugar and salt from about 90% of my eating. I buy no processed things, and the canned paste and tomatoes I use to make my own " sauce" are the No salt added kind now. Stevia sweetens anything I bake or make ( like the cranberry sauce I did up yesterday, Mmmm) but as I said every now and then I give in. For an addict like me ( chocaholic!) this is an amazing accomplishment, lol. Oh yes, I know about that

oh yes I do know! ( as a kid I ate that ) but now because of the gluten free thing I just skip the toast as it is not as nice as regular toast. The rotten thing about canned beans is the amount of sugar they put in these cans (grrr! ) That is why they beckon me from the cupboard from time to time. The other night was weak moment but man did I enjoy them!!

oh the flooding in Saskatchewan that I watched on the news last night was dreadful! So many people are experiencing devastation more and more these days with crazy damages from wind, rain and fire.

ahhhaaha! Well there you have it. Yes agreed how many times have you said " hey honey I really need this welded " That is great. Sad now I am thinking about all the skills and talents DH does have and has passed NONE of them off to his 2 sons. They would know even less than me when it comes to any household maintenance. But if a computer is on the frtitz, they are both in their element, ahhh, the future!!

funny how things pile up over the years, many times I had said " oh just for now, I'll save this just in case " Yep, we will hit that wall one day, maybe when DH retires it will give him a purpose! lol Oh yes May 15th, so still time left to make a dent.
