I forgot to mention I took some courses a few years ago and found I was a better student as an older person. I think a big part of it had to do with being a more responsible adult, preparing better, really wanting to be there and learn, no fun social activities to distract me and knowing myself better i.e. needed to review new material within 24 hrs by rewriting my scribbly notes from class.

Oh, I think you're over cooking them. They do better on a low temp - I use 350 in the oven and just roll them over until they start to expand. If they're rubbery, that's why.

Thanks for the rep. Hmmm. I've never tried them on the bbq. It's too much work for us (charcoal, not gas). I don't know if slitting them affects the flavour - I think that's just so they don't burst all over the oven
