thanks for the great post! This has been a roller coaster ride with the knee surgery but I'm finally understanding what all the therapists, nurses and Dr.'s have been preaching. Use the knee, challenge the knee, strengthen all the other muscles in the body or what was the point in getting the operation? Sometimes we need a sledgehammer to have the message sink in.
I actually teared up today as I was getting my shoes on to go to therapy. Lickety-split! I suddenly realized I had brought the foot of my operated leg up onto my thigh
( with NO assistance from my hands ) and slipped the shoe on! When did THAT ever happen this easy? never! ha ha Every day is like this now, a new movement is discovered that was not there the day before. I am so grateful.

great advice from a person who's been there! Thanks. It's so early but here I am already showered, dressed ( even blew dried my mop into a style? lol ) and just waiting to call the taxi to take me to my physio. I've double and triple checked the fanny pack I'm bringing to make sure the cash is in there, my keys, etc. What is my biggest worry right now? Trying not to make any noise banging stuff when I leave out the front door with my walker and cane so as not to wake up my sleeping shift workers. A near impossible task. ha ha

ugh, physio!! worst homework I've ever had to do! I'm improving but the progress is so darn slow. Maybe it's because I am a very very impatient person?

I am kicking myself for NOT making plans to do this years ago, living with awful pain for more than 8 years when there were options I am lucky enough to have here.
My daily stretches....ugh! The exercises, aka homework ( pre surgery ) are killing my gluteus maximus! Feels like I've been riding a bicycle sitting on the hardest seat! lol

we are all our younger selves the older we become. Bring on the memories of childhood! ha ha

yup, I did the same, thought I could manage the knee and other pains myself without surgery. Now IF had only I got my name on a list back then eh? Hindsight.
My DH may have to think about retirement IF and when I get this done because I won't be able to be here alone during recovery. I mean...who will feed Frankie? ha ha

same here. I have finally accepted the knee replacement route after avoiding it for years! The wait list to get it done is long I hear.

when it rains it pours. I hope the issue wrt your kidney stone(s) gets resolved. You seem to be well schooled in how to go forward with treatment. (((hugs))) to your poor Dad...shingles are awful ( so I've heard ) .

I believe the weather has got the best of you and am surprised as I thought you guys at the other end of the country don’t know how to deal with it other than to stay home!
I walked to No Frills and back today (about 30 min) and going was fine but on the way back I thought my nose and fingers were going to drop off!
Had it been on the way there I would have done a u turn!
Kudos to you and yours for taking long walks even in the cold!
