good morning glowworm! I forgot to mention that I usually think of Gloria from the Y & R when I see your user name, lol!! She looks darn good for an older actress I think, and not afraid to act that silly role to the nines! Oh and the 6 " meals " a day I am on with this, that helps majorly in not having any hunger pangs. In fact I often go " OMG! the 3 hrs is up? I HAVE to eat again? But I am not hungry " when in my life have I ever uttered those words? lol!! I found that cinnamon seems to act as one of my best appetite suppressants, I toss it in the a.m. oatmeal. In fact, just finished eating breakfast. DD has an exam, so I offered to drive her there on the way to physio/massage. You know, if and when that retirement day comes for me, I think I will be sort of lost without my "work " routine. I really miss working for the normalcy it brings my day to day. If I don't HAVE TO get up, perhaps I might stay in pj's all day! It is sure sounding more and more tempting I tell you!

You REALLY freaked me out! I was thinking you had been one of those 500 lb people till I read the part about ex-hubby! lol. So that is pretty much the way I am now too, gotta eat what makes my body happy. I am shocked and glad that because I eat no other grains except rice and oatmeal, that I no longer have that " wheat belly " problem, and eliminating the dairy also means no bloated feelings. Also the corn thing is a real pet peeve of mine, no corn ever, in anything. I do love love my starch/carb favourite choice is sweet potato. I sure hope eventually DH does start coming back on this, he did so good the last time lost 40 lbs. Soon I hope, lol

I am honest when I say the mind controls what happens, If I was not ready to do this mentally, believe me it would not be happening. It took 6 yrs of menopausal he** and other stressful life events to pack on this weight, so I guess the veil lifted, or the clouds parted, or something finally " clicked " for me to join DD on it. My cravings all nearly nil, which actually surprises me given the chocoholic, salt-aholic,and red meat a-holic ( at times) I was/am. Thanks for the good vibes.

Once my g/f at work turned us on to Balderson's 6 yr extra old white cheddar ( my mouth waters right now at the sharpness of it) I can barely stomach any other kind of extra old brands, they just don't have the " nip ". Do you know since March Break, I have not bought ANY cheese in this house? It took until around early May to use up the last that was at the bottom of my freezer, and everything I used it for went to DS and DH, not us dieter's ( DD and I ) Those mushroom caps do sound easy and delicious.

that is cute! I used to crack up at those cheese ads too. Well I would never be offended by getting cheese for payment either, just not right now as I am off all dairy for the diet, but I do loves my cheezes!

Oh your poor hubby! Are you gonna tell him or let him find out about the heavy lifting when he gets there? Too funny. I am guilty too sometimes when I need things up high, I could grab a step stool, but I wait till a tall kid walks into the kitchen , then I get them to bring down all the stuff I needed! lol

We just confirmed the weekend plans, DH is getting a new clothes dryer for Father's Day...and we are all going to see Madagascar 3D!! Even my 3 grown " kids " are coming... ( you do realize DH had absolutely NO say in either of these 2 things right? ) lol

Yum, I think the next time I make those squares for a potluck I am going to use butterscotch chips - sounds delicious! But poor you for not being able to eat chocolate, unless you've known about it since you were tiny and never got a taste for it

That's a huge accomplishment to have your PhD defended by 30, especially not in a science-based degree. In my field we pump them out like crazy and I'll be 27 when I'm done but there are a lot of my friends who are done at 25 or so. I have a friend in clinical psychology who has the same goals as you, to complete it all by 30. As for my studies, I have a committee meeting in a week and a half so they sign off on me finishing experiments/wrapping up and then starting to write. I have my fingers crossed My supervisor has been telling me since the 2nd year of my PhD that I had enough to defend then, but I am always concerned it won't be enough.

Also, if you had the baby during your defence, I think that's a guaranteed pass

Congrats on the pregnancy announcement - so very exciting! I couldn't see the cake picture but I can imagine how awesome it would be to surprise the hubby that way Did you defend yet? Because that is basically what I am hoping for - get my PhD done, work a year or two and then have a baby, that's my timeline.
  16. Thanks, it was ok just very sore from my exercise program.

Well there you have it then. Irrefutable scientic evidence. We must report your findings to the insurance companies; they'll put a stop to this madness because, heaven knows, they don't want to pay out.
