Yes, it's good a child didn't find it, but geez that must have been scary.
Well talk about a shocker, and what a coincidence. About 10 minutes ago, Jake just up & went into the crate, laid down, and curled up. Mind you, it only lasted about 2 minutes, but he did it. I don't believe it.
It doesn't open on top, but either on the side, or the end. I've done both. There's a blanket on top, and a comforter inside. I think I'll try opening both doors, if I can, then maybe he won't feel trapped. There'd be an escape route, but I'm not sure it's a great idea. We'll see. This one's not a carrying crate, large enough for him to lay down in though. It's been sitting in the same place for months, so he's use to it being there, and doesn't run from it any longer. I don't really care that much any more. Time will tell.
I haven't been that lucky. I do put food & toys in, & he'll reach in for them, but that's about it.
Wow, never thought of that. He turned 10 months on Sunday, so maybe ur right. Really though, I think initially he was scared, then fell asleep. But that only explains it to a point. When I was calling him, on the floor, looking under the bed, there's no excuse for not coming. Good for you though. 3 days, that's impressive, but it sure paid off for you. So far, we haven't had too many 'alpha' show downs - thank goodness. I don't like them, but won't let him get away with winning - ever. I can't use a crate. As a pup, he was mass crated, & is terrified of it.
Good idea, thx. Can't believe he didn't come when called. That was a 1st.
Now that I think about it there was a time when dolls were suddenly being made to " do things " and I know my Mom was a bit confused as to why a simple non battery operated doll was not good enough anymore? I was sooooo NOT into them, just had zero interest in holding them, I never " got it " , it is amazing I actually ended up having 3 kids eh? ha ha !!
Lol...yes, I knew Quincy was a little boy, but what I meant was that we didn't see as many pics of Lily Dog in the doggie thread...she seems to have Jenny's calm personality.. Lily, I mean, not Quincy.. And how are you, Andi...I've lost track of how you're doing lately, although I know there was another recent problem; geez, I get so wrapped up in my own little problems. Dang. And of course the brain isn't snapping at attention the way it used to. Stay well, Sweetheart...we need you to be healthy!!!
...that rep was suppose to end with: the cat. Not Lily Dog. More pics of her in the dog thread, please...?
Have a wonderful week! Thanks for the rep!
Thank you for the rep, but I really didn't do much. I felt pretty helpless and I didn't even have a phone to call 911 (the other driver did though). I'm just thankful it wasn't more serious. Have a great weekend!
Yup. I'm done with all the beets. Thank goodness. It was a lot of work and I'm still deciding whether it was worth it. lol. Every 10 pound bag was a 4-hour investment of my time. hehe. But I admit- I am enjoying the eating of them so it's all good. Have a great weekend!
But doing all those potatoes & beets is a daunting task. Better you than me. Me, I'm ok I guess; lots of appts & hospital visits, but had to cancel most 'cause Jake's been so sick. He's been ill for 3 weeks now, spent 2 days in hospital, still on a # of meds, and still there's something else wrong. I'm taking him back this morning. He was so weak yesterday, he couldn't even walk up the stairs. I'm soooo worried about him. Anyway, enjoy the day, & don't do too much & get run down. Gotta get going.
Started with 60 lbs. I pickled & canned 30 pounds; I boiled, sliced & froze 20 lbs. That leaves me one 10 lb. bag which is about half full and we've been nibbling at. I'm amazed/complimented/ depressed all at the same time at how fast those pickled beets are going. Amazed and complimented because I was worried they'd taste bad and the fact that everyone is gobbling them is testament to the fact that thankfully they don't (lol). Depressed because it took SO long from start to finish to can those bad boys. Every 10 lbs was a 4-hour investment of my time to produce 10 jars (500ml) and it's not taking them 4 hours to eat a jar. More like 30 seconds. Mostly I wonder just how my mother did it. She was an avid canner when I was little. She made a multitude of different jams, canned peaches and pears and applesauce as well as beets and pickles. I have a new found respect for her after seeing just HOW much work it is to can stuff. Your dog likes beets??!!
have a fabulous baking day! I am smelling the homemade meat pies cooking now....oh man I could eat the whole 9" one myself!!
ha ha Molli the Maltese! Did you know Hamlet is my veggie peel nut as well. If I am standing at the sink, he hops up, tries to grab the peelings and jumps down with a " prize " in his mouth to chase. Aren't we so lucky to have all of these joys in our lives every day to reflect on? I sometimes have to remind myself of the minute by minute entertainment they provide me with.
Lily dog to the rescue!! ( to clean up leftover veggies ) She is one heck of an entertaining pooch with all her antics....I just love it. I was at the dog park again today and I asked 2 of the ladies there if they had seen the FB page from said dog park. Immediately they both take out their phones and click, tap, click! instantly they see it and post some of their own pics from their prior visits...lol! Technology eh? Oh pfft! to having to resort to playing the damsel to finish the tire change, but if ya have to....you have to. I could not change a tire if my life depended on it. CAA is my only recourse....hmmm but then how will I call them from the side of the road with no cell phone? Dang! Foiled again.
I THINK it was something he ate. Everything goes into that mouth, but in the past if his tummy was upset, it'd only last a day. Usually, he eats about 2 cups of puppy kibble daily; the last 3 days, less than 1/2 c daily. So we'll see. No couldn't go out. Had planned to, but the spasms kept me couch / bed ridden. This morning was horrible out, but it cleared & warmed up nicely this afternoon. Was able to open all my windows. I know, it's funny how different the weather can be from Miss., Toronto, N.Y., Scar., to Whitby. You'd think we lived in different countries. I hope afternoons like today last for awhile, I'd like to get a chance to take them in. Probably can't till Thurs tho. Drs on Mon, Wed, & Fri, dog sitting Mon afternoon & eve, hair & puppy training Tues., so, busy week. Hope you & Lily can get out to spy, I mean visit, with all your neighbours tomorrow. Take care of yourself.
Cook, what's that? Haven't done much of that for a long time, so better you than me. Years ago I use to pickle beets, make jams, stew tomatoes ......., but that was in a different life. lol I had a headache today also. It's eased up, but not all gone. It hasn't been a good week for either of us. Jake's been off his food & throwing up for 3 days now. Starting to get a little concerned. And me, well my back's been pretty painful all week, but tomorrow's another day, & nothing compared to what you've been going through. Good luck with your cooking.
I most def. missed my window of opportunity to walk my dogs even though I got up before 6:00 a.m. I thought I'd watch one PVR'd thing first and next thing I know I've dozed back off off in front of the tv downstairs (woke up in a panic thinking I had not woken up DD for work! ) All was good though.
