Hi, Skippy! Gosh it's been a while since we touched base. How are you these days, which I hope are sunnier than the damp, dark, drizzly days we've been enjoying lately? I'm still recovering from my broken leg, and will have 2 screws removed " within the month" according to my surgeon. i's hindering my progress, so out they come! I hate the thought if going under, but if it relieves the discomfort of trying to walk, it'll be worth it.
And how are you keeping busy these days?

Hey, Skippy! Dad had retired at 57 after 38 years of being in education as a teacher, principal, then Superintendent of Education. He had always been active in the church, had been a cantor and choir director, too. He was ordained a Deacon in two years after he retired. He would travel through our province (population is small so the Eparchy was the whole province, with one Bishop) with the Bishop, going to special liturgies. He also did a lot of services in our home church - at the time, there was a shortage of priests, and there were times we were without one. He could do everything except consecrate Communion and hear Confession. He did lots of marriages, baptisms, funerals, counselling - and just loved what he did. The Bishop wanted him to go on and become a priest, but Dad would have had to go to Rome to do that, and he would not leave the family. At that time, they weren't ordaining married men in Canada, but they now do.
